No, it isn’t a new poker site for US players with 110% rakeback and a 500% bonus. But it is a part of the online experience. Tony’s latest Video Blog talks about the PLO8 tournament being a fish market. Pike Place Market is the public market in Seattle made famous by guys throwing fish at/to each other.

I’ve played PLO online. I’ve only found O8 as a limit flavor. That makes it possible to do some chasing based on pot odds. Pot Limit lets one make it too costly to chase the flush or straight or incomplete lows. Tony mentions how well off his stack would have been if he hadn’t been rivered so many times. He also said he’s playing some of the best poker he’s played at the Rio. That would indicate that people are ignoring the pots and chasing.

The O8 that I’m playing is part of the HORSE cycle these days. I confess that I’ve never been a great Omaha player. I’ve never been a limit specialist either. I’d say I’m about 75% adequate at Omaha8. It is a game of patience. With 4 cards down it is twice as hard to get a premium hand. You need to do a lot of folding. The typical O8 sessions I cycle through often see every seat in the hand. Maybe the ‘Action Shuffle’ is actually alive and well on FullTilt and Ultimate Bet. But, my guess is the card distribution is pretty normal and people are playing hands that should be folded. And this is being born out when the river exposes hands.

The high-low games penalize players going only for the high in dramatic fashion. O8 has buzz words that truly mean something
