Virtual Government
After mucking with your and my enjoyment of poker, the fine folks at the Attorney General’s office have gone virtual. Linden Labs – who operates the virtual world of Second Life – has outlawed virtual casinos.
Casino were a source of revenue for Second Life and Linden will be looking for another revenue stream after outlawing the gambling in Linden Dollars. The virtual strip clubs and sex services remain intact.
I’m not a Second Life advocate and haven’t joined the virtual world. I have enough problems with the world thinking I’m a hunk to be admired without designing a new Ken to operate in Second Life. Second Life is a weird concept – in my mind anyway. People buy property, designer duds, wine, women and song paying in Linden Dollars that are bought with real dollars. That seems just too Walter Mitty to me. But then, I play RGP games as a warrior mage; so, who am I to criticize?
Mankind does get a break outside the virtual world. Laak and friend managed to eke out a modest win against the University of Alberta. Laak and Eslami played 4-500 hand duplicate matches and ended up with enough big blinds to be considered the winner. Phil stated that the outcome was inconclusive. So the Internet Bot coming out of Area 51 will still be hotly discussed in the news groups.
ADDENDUM:
Still managing small wins playing mostly stud. My HORSE play was mostly on FullTilt. If you read the past comments here, you’ll recall that I got felted on FT. Bodog only has Stud available as an alternative. Bodog is a real fish tank where even my so-so stud game prospers. Yesterday, one of those raise ever street guys was playing and ended up with the whole table calling him down. People like that often get paid on their best hands and I did that a couple of times with the fellow. He was willing to cap with anything and I got a huge one off him when I hit my full house and he happily capped two streets and even bet and then called my river raise. Funny thing was one of the players was flaming him all the way. He was happy to go beyond just tapping the glass. I’ve also been playing stud on Ultimate Bet with decent results. By and large the players are better on UB. But, it is still staying profitable. UB uses bigger antes, bringins and completions in their games. You need to play a bit more aggressive as a result. Bodog seems the better site but UB keeps giving me opportunities to add some bonus clearing.
