High Stakes Poker

The first episode of the season is out of the can and on the airwaves … and ready to download as a torrent already. It is the big money season. It is the straddle game. And, just to try to make it interesting, there is a 72 sidebet.

The first pot has Phil Helmuth pwning The Mouth’s KK hand with … yes … the Hammer. Helmuth has evidently been taking lessons from Grubby.

Interesting bit of angle shooting between Laak and Brunson Jr. Brunson fake an in move and Laak flipped over his set and called for a ruling. And the house said … (watch the show)

Of course a mil in play these days is starting too look like chump change with the High Stakes Golf that’s running while HSP is slipping out of the can.

It is a nice start to the best poker show on the air. It isn’t ‘huge’ moves based on the money that is on the table though. How jaded can we get.

I think the big winner of the night was Helmuth. He got some cred for his 72 move on Mike. But, he gave most of that away with his normally modest self-promotions. But, Mike lost his roar in the process.

ADDENDUM:

Seems like China has tried to one-up our brillant legislatures’ giving us the UIGEA. Well, the Chineese have raised the ante with a new law that goes into effect next month.

Tibetan Buddhist monks must have official permission to reincarnate!

I guess that means that the Godless Commies are acknowledging the truth of being a born again Budist. And that puts pressure on our born agains to play back. Stay tuned for the rebirth cycle’s next happening.
