Out and About

It was an interesting day in blogdom. M.C. live blogged the Million $ made for TV game that features a lot of name pros – including our blogging buddy here, TonyG. But… that is not all.

Let me finish up on Michael Craig’s interesting background work watching the big game. As it ended the day there was a lot of $$$’s on the table. Michael suspends his credulity and watches his tournament book writing pals turn into high stakes ring players. Mike’s shock is apparent as it should be when the whole new world opened before his eyes.

You will need to start in the archives as M.C. Is blogging up a storm and page 1 got filled. So start here. Start with London Journal #1 at Full Tilt and you can move up in sequence.

You may be a while in seeing the game as a TV show but M.C. Gives great flavor of what the future holds when we can at least download the show from the net. If you can’t wait, hit FullTilt and look for the red tables that indicate FT pros. You find a mix including play at blind level equal to the Million $ London game happening every day.

The other big event is compliments of Flipchip and his filial counterpart, The Poker Professor. They are known for being the portal to stardom and the new kid is none other than Mean Gene. He kicked it off with a great article here. With his Ultimate Bet blog and his other efforts he’s now managed a third win on his card. Nice work hitting the set! Damn, he worked the WSOP too – Quads.

His first article show that bloggers can frequently provide better and/or more reliable news than their print counterparts. He doesn’t expose quite the shabby imagining of a former NYT writer but he gets close enough for his first day on the job.

My last mention is about a nice interview of Fossilman. Greg Raymer gives a nice perspective to his win of the Poker Stars‘ Big Event #6 – PLO.

The blogs were really hopping yesterday. Lots of good stuff. Couple that to my member envy and it was still a great day to be… Out and About.

ADDENDUM:

Got a nice email that I qualified for the PokerNews freeroll by registering through the site here and then meeting the points needed. As Brit friends say, “The tournament already has 1600 punters.” I’m not 100% sure what punter means but I’ll go with gamblers/players until corrected. And they say they speak English… LOL

Congratulations, your play on Full Tilt Poker has earned you an entry into the PokerNews Cup Freeroll. The PokerNews Cup will take place in Melbourne, Australia from October 21-29, 2007. Each prize package consists of an AUD$3000 entry to the PokerNews Cup, six nights accommodation at the Crown Promenade Hotel and $1500 cash for travel and expenses.

You will be automatically registered for this tournament, which starts at 18:00 ET (6PM) on Friday, September 21st. You can verify that you’re in the tournament by selecting the menu item Requests > Registered in Tournaments in the game software.

This isn’t my favorite tournament setup. There are a huge number of no shows. It varied between 3-2 live seats at my table. When that happens I switch to donk mode and either try to kill em off or bust out. It can take a good hour or so for the tables to turn into a poker game. Even for the seat, I’m not going to wait around without a big stack. So, I don’t mind the bust out.

Here is an interview you’d have never expected: A pensive and modest TonyG

Nice WSJ opinion piece about the dichotomy that is Iraq.
