Scalping Update

In my last blog, (this is blog number 2 for today) I remarked that the Kahnawake site that hosts Absolute hadn’t been heard from. Well, they are in play now.

They have hired Gaming Associates – a well known firm in the area of security – to perform a full audit of the allegation and past practices.

Mr David Montour, the Commission’s Chairman, said, “This week allegations of impropriety have been brought to the attention of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. We have appointed experts to conduct a thorough audit of all circumstances, provide findings and recommendations to the Commission. The audit will not be restricted to examining theories circulating in Internet chat rooms and fora”.

In my last blog, I wondered why they’d remained quiet. Well, that is behind us. Looks like the Mohawks have taken to the warpath and are looking for a scalp.

It would be interesting to see the contract that exists between them and the sites being hosted — like Absolute. I recall a not so similar situation that revealed that they manage the escrow accounts for the sites there. That could put them in control of Absolute’s operation with minimal effort. If they no longer do that, the funds held are at greater risk to those with deposits.

I did notice an interesting thing. I mentioned ownership by name in my last blog. Since then I have come across two different listed owners of Absolute. It is a real musical chairs type of ownership that looks even more shady. I can’t track down the time frame for all this but the latest seems a South African company.

KEEP IN MIND THAT IF OUR GOVERNMENT WERE REGULATING THIS ON OUR BEHALF, THIS SEEMINGLY SHELL TYPE OF OPERATION WOULD BE WAY LESS LIKELY TO IMPOSSIBLE.
