Absolutely the End

I am done with this fiasco. And that is the only term that can be used. Conspiracies fail when they can’t keep the story straight. They aren’t able to do that because of all the convoluted actions and the head counts. It appears we’ve gotten there with the Absolute Poker allegations. If you are still playing there, you deserve what you get in all respects.

It is hard to come up with all the links but it seems the Internet has managed to provide them. At 2+2 there is a decent recap by a reader here of all that has gone on. A lot is circumstantial. Circumstantial evidence requires a lot and linkage to be applicable. Looks like that has gone beyond reasonable doubts.

If we are honest with ourselves – and we have to be at times – we know that we are the one resposible for seeing to it that we are sitting in a fair game. We can fail at that for a period. But when it beats us over the head and we continue, we deserve what we get.

A reputable operation would do just what is being done – preform an audit. A less than reputable operation would do the same but try to stack the deck. They can do that with concealed relationships. That appears to be the case here. Kahnawake and Absolute have close ties. Tokwiro is a private owner of Absolute and has a consulting relationship with Arizona Bay providing services to AP. Arizona Bay operates a subsidiary – ISGN. ISGN is the company Tokwiro has contracted with either through Kahnawake or Tokwiro for the ‘outside’ audit.

I stated in my last blog that audits have to be preformed by outside entities without an interest in the business being audited. When that fails you get situations like the Arthur Anderson failure. That failure seemed far more hands off than anything we can come up with based on the circumstances outlined above.

What it all seems to boil down to is the typical ‘Old Boys Network” going from a fraternity house toward the big house. A lot of people got greedy. It seems to have worked for a long time but got pulled one time too many. That’s always the trap and this one appears to have been sprung.

Here is our affiliate link to Absolute Poker. If you click on it, you are a sucker. And if we keep it up and available, we’re just greedy bastards too. I expect/hope it will be shortly removed and we can start putting this mess behind us.

Kahnawake needs to divorce itself from Absolute too. Every site that I am playing on is on their servers. The quality of their IT service and security must be improved, audited and be transparent. Otherwise, we have a real mess. I mean a REAL MESS. They have an opportunity to stay in business and that’s better than it is looking over at Absolute.

There is another absolute end here. I am going back to blogging about poker – the fun part. There are enough folks following things and enough dirt dug up for me to declare my coverage redundant. If there more here, it will be only in an ADDENDUM.

ADDENDUM:

The US now has until 14 December to come up with a trade compensation scheme for the their curbs on internet gambling dealt EU, Caribbeans, and other country’s firms. It amounts to over 100-billion in claims. If that happens it will be the biggest subsidy of organized racing and lotteries imaginable and all in the name of protecting us from ourselves. Maybe it is time for the politicians to thing about protecting us from them.

Browsing the net I ran across an article that the WTO has explained why all the money is in the hands of a smaller and smaller group of people. It is because of the inequality of the Internet. No, I am not making that up. First they start with a premise that we – the middle class – are being stolen from:

As recently as 1979, 61% of female workers were in jobs that paid less than $25,000, and only 3% earned more than $50,000 a year. By contrast, more than 36% of new jobs that opened since 1979 for women pay more than $50,000 [all figures adjusted for inflation] and only 17% pay less than $25,000.

…There has been a tremendous growth in the number of men in high-paying jobs: In 1979, just 10% of male workers earned above $75,000, while fully 34% of new jobs since 1979 have paid this amount or more.

…For three-quarters of the workforce (women and the top half of male earners), economic growth translated into earnings gains. But for male workers in the bottom half of the earnings distribution, the decline of unionized manufacturing employment has led to the drying up of some middle-class jobs for those with no post-secondary education.

So I guess that is suspect, right? I mean left. Well, whichever…

In the Oh My God! category: Well, actually the Virgin Mary. This is for sale in Kiwi land and the bid is now $NZ 26,800.

I might be interested in a bid if they can guarantee it is actually her likeness. Last one out there that could have confirmed that is Sister Bernadette and she’s gone on to joining the beloved mom’s morning coffee klatch.

Well, my check/cash-out arrived from Ultimate Bet. It was very quick to come but $8 light. That is evidently the fee they charge for issuing a check. (Went and looked and no mention.) They nail you for rake and then add insult to injury by nailing you for a check fee. I said in an earlier blog it had been a favorite site. Lets go back and underline ‘had been’ and then move on.  (I’ve gotten regular checks from other sites that were without fee.)

Well, I took the remaining .71 to the .01-.02 NL table. Could only buy in for .70. Table broke up and I now have 1.10. So here is the offer:

ENTER YOUR U.B. NAME IN THE COMMENTS. I’ll send the first one to respond all I can. (Either $1 or $1.10 — if that works.)

I’m not able to lose .71 it would seem. Strange… larger amounts are so much easier.

No UB name. I quit trying to keep up with all of the AP players pretty early in the game. Their recent actions (inviting Nat there but excluding the relevant data) is more PR spin.

bayne_s is my UB account too

    OK, Bayne.

You should see 1.10 in your account.

Good Luck at the tables. Turn it into enough to withdraw! And then WITHDRAW!!!

The rest of you should stop by his very nice blog. Just click on his name above.
