The Poker Road

It is the Greenstein ”” Sebok ”” and a cast of thousands dozens several. One of the several that I respect is Bart Hanson who did the commentary at the now defunct “Live at the Bike” webcasts. How it will make money is pending. But, Barry isn’t a welfare queen; so it should be able to continue until the ads appear. In the meantime, enjoy the banner free atmosphere

The site is professionally designed. That is obvious. The technology is top shelf. And the content that is starting to appear is of equal quality. There is a bit of a work-in-process atmosphere. Some of the links are blank and one or so are wrong. Not a big deal. What is a big deal is some exceptional quality in the process of starting it all in motion.

The starting team getting front page copy is quiet a mix:

  • Barry Greenstein
  • Joe Sebok
  • Bart Hanson
  • Gavin Smith
  • Amanda Leatherman

There are blogs by:

  • Barry Greenstein
  • Jeff Madson
  • Kevin “BeLOWaBOVe” Saul
  • Joe Sebok
  • Steve “MuGGyLICiOuS” Sung
  • Anna Wroblewski

I guess if you play online poker you have to capital challenged.

There also appears to be guest sections that aren’t main page listed.

I really enjoyed some of the first shows. I could contrast them to the video stuff you get from the “premier” sites. As a startup that isn’t fair. But, it is looking like what they are doing ‘isn’t fair’ to the established sites. They are starting from a higher than expected level.

I said the graphic and design are top shelf and they are. But, the problem is always trying to get to the current/latest content. And that’s starting out as a drop-down clicking challenge. As the content fills and ages, it could get messy.

There is a lot more that could be said about the site and personalities. If I did it would be in the form of praise. But, you should visit and find your own view and interest. There should be something there for all who enjoy poker, personalities, poker knowledge, and what we all think of as poker humor. Mostly that translates to bad attempts at humor as I prove here each day.

ADDENDUM:

I am an average player and a low stakes one at that. I didn’t think that’d every get me a red ID on Full Tilt Poker indicating I was one of their pros. When you see the ad for their herd walking down the hallway with aggressive intent, it is a group that dine on folks like me and my fellow recreational players. No way I ever thought I might make it into that picture until now. (What a stretch that line.)

They just named a new cast of pros to add to the mix:

  • Amanda “Mandy B” Baker
  • Peter “Nordberg” Feldman
  • Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby
  • Nikolaus “kahuxxe” Jedlica
  • Peter Jepson
  • Jon “PearlJammer” Turner

There have to be a couple there that the better players reading this will possibly wonder about. You have to respect the number of final WPT and WSOP tables made by Hansen and others. And there is a long list of final table and multiple bracelet winners in that hallway crowd. With this list, you have to think we’ve all got a shot – even though we know we don’t.

Part of it seems to be recognition of a couple of areas that don’t get the press. The others are mostly those with a fair amount of press. With this group, I am talking high stakes ring and online play. I can dig it. It is how the house makes its money.
