PBS got a bit of it right

Friday, November 30th, 2007

A portion of PBS revolves around the populist leanings of Moyer and crowd. This is the group that is quick to blame everybody but themselves for every wrong out there. Sadly, they are the major users of the tools that make for wrongs. (more…)

How to lose .40

A lot of hands. A fair amount of rake. And nothing to show for it. (more…)

Ve get to soon old

and too late schmart. If you browse Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations, this one won’t be up there with Churchill or the rest of the loquacious crowd. But its rightness is hard to deny. Our redundancy is obvious. We tend to make the same mistakes over and over. Throw in a bit of greed and welcome the Nigerian spammers. (more…)

Physics

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

As an object in motion, I tend to remain in motion. At least until I am acted upon by an external force. (or an unbalanced internal one gone awry.) Boyle though talks about pressure and its ability to raise the heat. That seems a fair description for all of us. The primary isn’t a bad one to describe playing poker either. (more…)

It was an uber shock when I visited Party Poker Blog and found that the esteemed Mr. O’ finally called the Problem Gambling Intervention Hotline. What a sad day for bonus codes everywhere. I think we all saw it coming, though. Luckily — in just two weeks — there will be an intervention on his behalf. (more…)

This week’s High Stakes Poker

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I watched it. I am still scratching my head. I don’t know if it belongs on The Game Show Network or The Cartoon Network. Gold and Farha mix it up on the first hand. That took the first half of the show. They actually went to commercial before the end of the first hand. Then, it got weird. (more…)

The Ladies aka Chris Ferguson’s Harem

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I was, honestly, a bit dubious about the project. You can spend some boringly funny hours accomplishing very little playing freerolls. The rate of return isn’t as good as my first job and that took down a cool .50 per hour. Although, that’d get you 2 gallons of gas at the time. But, I’ll confess to a guilty pleasure of doing them on occasion; but as a project? Kinda iffy. (more…)

Drawing Dead and Not at Poker

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

It may happen more in life than at the poker tables. Inspiration for this is that Google looks to be bidding on the spectrum being offered by the FCC. It was expected that the Tel Cos would be the only bidders. (more…)
