This week’s High Stakes Poker

I watched it. I am still scratching my head. I don’t know if it belongs on The Game Show Network or The Cartoon Network. Gold and Farha mix it up on the first hand. That took the first half of the show. They actually went to commercial before the end of the first hand. Then, it got weird.

I’m not sure if they shouldn’t change it’s name. Maybe Monday Night at the Elk’s Club would be more appropriate. Too bad the don’t have a mixed game format. Spit in the Ocean would have fit right in.

I didn’t count the hands but it couldn’t have been a dozen. There was more table talk than card playing. Doyle even had to get up and walk around the room on his bum leg to try to settle himself and he didn’t play a hand.

If you didn’t see or Tivo it, you can download it as a torrent. I’m not sure I’m suggesting that as I’m still not sure what I saw.

With each player putting up a cool half mil to sit down, you can figure there will be some bluffing and playing implied odds hands. That happens but in a way where Moe, Shemp and Curly would fit right in. The only thing missing in the show was a piano dangling on a rope. At least we’d have recognized where the next wreck was going to come from.

ADDENDUM:

I’m still trying to figure out Stud. Have a good session. Then the opposite. And, I play them alike. The variance has been unbelievable. Won a bit on Stars and a wee bit on FullTilt. And, I cleared some FT bonus to help out. I am considering going to HORSE for a while. I moved off it when I thought my Stud was that much stronger than my flop game. Maybe some variety will help.
