A little of this…
And a little of that: my new laptop, politics and my Stud travails. Short and sweet to not so…
The new laptop is a Toshiba. It is my first product from them. It is my last product from them. Maybe Microsoft is part of that package. My touchpad went away. Maybe something I contributed to. It was working and I was using my trackball with it to play some poker in the living room. I went to use it and it is gone. Reinstalling it hasn’t worked, yet. I have it churning out another try. The reinstall tries (for well over a half hour) and dies. It just completed again and is now rebooting. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I have a Dell and had Vista teething problems too. I could get support by phone, chat, or email. Toshiba only offers phone. I ordered a mini trackball instead. The darn thing should be fairly decent. AMD dual processors from the higher end of the list; 2 meg of memory; decent mobile video from ATI. It is about the same speed as the old pentium laptop that died and it is replacing.
OK, politics. Off to New Hampshire and the toast of the talk shows. Do you remember a guy name George W. Bush? One of the knocks on him was he couldn’t pronounce the name of some obscure 3rd world leader. What they were saying was they didn’t think he had an international background. Well, the Republicans are going to get pretty close to that level if Huckaby makes it. As for Barak, he’s the guy willing to invade Pakistan…if that is what it takes. But, he will drag us out of Iraq because that gets the media coverage. The difference between Iraq and Pakistan is striking and favors them as a really worse place to end up with troops on the ground.
My Saturday on PokerStars reminded me of FullTilt. I’d just about double my bankroll in the lead up. I dumped a bit Saturday. The games were a lot looser. Too many at the river and I lost a lot of hands there. One hand stood out. I was rolled up and made a full house on 5th street and got some folks to cap a couple of rounds. The guy hit runner-runner to make the bigger boat. Oh well.
