Nahh, nothing happens

Had to chuckle — beats crying — at Linda little problems. They are truly little problem. It is obvious. They are her problems and serious problems are when they are your’s or mine. Back when she and I were in rompers, people got involved with others. Every neighbor on the block was a surrogate parent. Now we all look the other way. And so people like Allison can be negligent, surly, or just plain stupid.

Remember my new computer hell. The touchpad went south. The lovely support folks blamed me. Said it was a software issue I’d created. I asked to speak to a supervisor and for the first time ever was refused. I’d had to spell my first name 4 times. I guess James just doesn’t come across well in India. I could go on and on and did in another of my blogs.

So, I went to Visa for help. They gave me the refund. I knew that it was clear and figured 30 days. When that rolled around I sent an email asking if it was no safe to buy the replacement. I was told that the matter is resolved and the credit was in my account.

Well, the day before yesterday, I got a call from Visa. It was weird. I was told that Walmart had 45 days to remonstrated. I said “You mean it wasn’t resolved as you indicated?” No straight answer to that. I really don’t know why I got the call. They didn’t, as yet, has any correspondence from Walmart. I am guessing they will. Seeing that I had bought the replacement, I just may end up with a pair of laptops. I have pairs of a lot of things – glasses, shoe, socks and other items for the bilateral individual – but laptops wasn’t something I’d wanted pairs of.

Well, I am mad as hell. I am mad at myself. Self is the only one we can blame. Like the neighborhood where I don’t know 80% of the people on my block to the big box store that has done away with personal attention but has a greater that won’t recognize me next week or year.

I guess I could look for someone to blame. But, truth be told, I own a major chunk of that. I avoid involvement in the communities I participate in. Poker being the possible exception. I have concluded that I can’t change the world and it is more grief than reward when I do. It seems to be bread and circus and I just don’t swim against the current.

So, I buy my meds online. Computers at least appear more courteous and have better training. I get my discounts automatically from drugstore.com and they arrive promptly in the mail with me not having to wander the isles for an hour while they hope for an impulse sale bonus. It is about twice the price of the Walmart $4 30-day fill for the one I could use. But, I don’t shop there regularly – especially after the laptop fiasco – so throw in a couple of gallons of gas and they cost more. Amazon will haul something back I didn’t like and it too responds in a considerate manner when I have a querry. No, I don’t see Linda’s good buddy, Allison accoutrements – but I miss out on her attitude too.

Sadly the world won’t change to conform to my standards or some pretty loose ones. And, I tired of sending that stream into the wind.

ADDENDUM:

Well, the political season just won’t end. It looks like a third party protest vote is in my future. It sort of goes with the above, doesn’t it?

I like Barama. He is personable and has some smarts. What he doesn’t seem to show us is a lot of experience beyond his Chicago past. He’s certainly more glib than the incumbent. But, his experience seems at least as shallow as the Douba. He’s managed some dumb international stuff and seems happy to talk tax and entitlement programs at a time we’ve just about maxed that under a ‘conservative’ Republican. I don’t think we can afford that and those of you with kids should keep that in mind.

Give him a few years and I think I could vote for him. He’s attractive at the moment as much for what little we understand about him as that which we do. Again, George W. comes to mind.
