One of the things that get an Attorney General or FTC’s attention is the hands off aspect between interested parties. It is often all to obvious in the aftermath that the hand holding generated an unfair business practice.

The Canadian government has the situation giving it an opportunity to UIGEA a bit of legislation against the redskins of Kahnewake and their collection of Grand Chiefs.

Absolute was a fiasco. I hoped it’d be a final one. Instead their other operation at Ultimate Bet has the same problem. It appears a very similar operation was conducted. This is inexcusable. You don’t shoot yourself in the foot twice using the same bullet.

OK, we don’t have to play those sites and if we’re in the cheaper seat it isn’t likely we’ll run into the gang. But, acts like these are political fodder. And there can be fallout far beyond the two companies. There are over 70 sites using their server farm operation including the others that U.S. players can use.

Kahnewake has operated in a gray area outside the norm. It has nation status as a native American entity. We’ve very much liberalized the opportunities for these groups to operate in the gaming area. Most of that was with advise and consent by various governmental bodies. That isn’t the case with Kahnawake. They just did it and that is a whole different animal that could be shut down by government ire. And, they seem intent on providing the ammunition to give the Canadian government the opportunity. Horse racing interests in Canada – like those who lobbied the U.S. — are on the case.

ADDENDUM:

Been sick as a dog. I’m usually immune to illness. Payday is here. After sleeping for 36 hour with minimal activity – water and john visits – I’m still not back to normal. I thought it was the flu to start but have doubts. I’m almost to the point I can get in the car to go see the vet. Maybe tomorrow or so.
