Why oh why?
Who, what, where and when seem more popular. But, in Poker Blogs there are a lot of Whys out there? Why did he:
- play such ratty card
- chase
- catch
and a host of others.
We ask why we play and I thought I had an answer to that. I really didn’t feel bad when I’d go cold. That nasty run on FullTilt was certainly annoying but livable.
I just had a similar mediocre stretch on PokerStars and that one has gotten to me. Big Time! On Tilt, they shuffle the down cards. On Stars they display them in order for all to see. I guess I gave a lot more benefit of the doubt on Tilt and that helped keep me sane.
Sanity has fled from me at Stars. I see the D- hands make their set of 3’s or pick up their gutshot. I watch the eternal optimists chase and chase and often get the pot using their last 2 cards after betting and even raising was going on.
Intellectually, I know I’m supposed to love those buggers. But, when it is so transparent from the way Stars displays thing, emotion takes over. I am still making the 2 BB’s that are common – even with this stretch. But it was running twice that.
It hasn’t been that bad of late. I get some winners and really more than losers. Some are even juicy wins. Although, losing tables are down. Losing tables are often in the juicy for them which keeps me from building a stack in happy mode manner.
I know this is Poker Blogger post umpty-thousand on this topic. It seem to get us all. Back in the old days, I could move to a different site for a while which let me have a clean, new perspective. Damn Feds have mangled that. I hate the Bodog interface and, when it loses connection, it can come back truly flaky with missing cards.
So, if anyone out there know a site for U.S. play that has some stud going, leave me a note. I’d like to find a site to rotate to once in a while.
ADDENDUM:
I have two Dell computers. I have a media desktop and that recently purchased laptop. I’ve recently contacted them on both with fairly satisfactory results. The laptop is still a problem.
The desk unit hasn’t been able to get Windows updates for a while. It searches and comes up with these two pieces of info:
WindowsUpdate_80070002 WindowsUpdate_dt000
I contacted Dell and the guy took over my machine and I got to see the machination MS can put support people through and also what you have to do to accomplish things that even your administrator status normally denies. I am glad I no longer get paid to support computers. Logical approaches have been replaced by the exotic and obscure.
The laptop remains a problem. I played on Stars a bit last evening and used the touchpad instead of grabbing a mouse to go with it. There is a feature that some may like. I ended up calling bets where I was headed for the fold button and slid over the call — sort of a bot idiot. When you move over a button, the darn pad setup selects the button. This happens going over adds and even with paging down and such in the browser. The arrow also jumps to places it thinks I want to go which also screws things up no end. The guy appeared to fix it using configurations inside Explorer’s configuration. But, when I rebooted the problem was back. God I hate operating system crap these days. And operating system should not build in the kitchen sink. Yes, you need the GUI tightly integrated. But, MS loves to throw in other stuff in the application realm that is so tightly integrated you have it interacting when it should keep its mitts on the sideline.

At least you don’t have try to explain why you were surfing a porn site to anyone - just tell them the mouse selects a button on its own and goes there. You can even prove it by having them try it.
On the real side, I’d be looking for a big hammer to kill that mouse with.

Yeah, the porn attraction dropped as hair started growing out of strange places along with weirding up of the eyebrows. Not lost but not a priority.
As to a hammer, I’d probably take it to Vista first.
BTW, I said mouse but I’m a trackball person.

go to the mouse settings in the control panel and you can adjust the touchpad. What’s happening is the tap select feature is on and if you have heavy fingers like mine then you inadvertently click on things when it is activated. The following link will show you how to do it in Windows XP. Vista should be similar.

The pictures show you approximately what you should see when you go to mouse settings in control panel. you shouldn’t have to download anything.
