Last Unsigned Poker Pro Signed

It has to be true. We just had the NFL draft. After that, any number of unsigned free agents are now working out with their new team. Evidently, there isn’t a pool of the unsigned in Poker. The proof is obvious.

Bodog signs Justin Bonomo. He plays online as ZeeJustin. You remember him. He is the arrogant twit that got caught multi-tabling. This normally innocuous trick works for ring games. It seems to be an obvious no-no in a tournament. But, who needs rules when you are young and arrogant? Sincerely apologize? You got to be kidding!

All that played out a few months back when Justin compounded the error by not doing the thing American politicians hate too. He met the proof head on with arrogance and contempt for those less smart. He made the rounds – forums, talks show, and interviews. He did very well – considering he had one foot in his mouth and the other up his nether parts.

The various sites are known for their players. PokerStars has big winners. Full Tilt has all the supporting actors – more it seems than members of the Screen Actor’s Guild has. Then we get to Bodog. That’s a hard one to get a handle on. Bodog is sort of macho sleaze in their promotional activity. They get their show help from Bimbos Are Us. The guy retiring wasn’t retiring when he was at the helm. The only mainstream hope they espoused was the request to spell their name right.

Now a while back Bodog dumped Jamie Gold. Jamie – for all his warts – was never a cheat. And, as a paid mouth in Hollywood, you’d think he could be articulate. There are a lot of articulate poker players out there that are sponsored. They are media savvy folks these days. At least in public, they can all appear likable, humble, down-to-earth and all that good stuff. Well, Jamie didn’t quite make it by other than Hollywood standard. But, you have to figure that when a site signs the guy they are looking for good press. Justin? I don’t think I’d put him up there in the limelight. What media interviewer wouldn’t want to bring up his past? He’s got too many juicy lines out there that’d make even the latest Hollywood train wreck look homespun.

Bodog, you … well, I don’t want a 15-minute penalty … so lets just say goofed. Big Time!

We’ve had the Absolute and Ultimate Bet cheating and we keep playing. Bodog then seeks out a cheat. Amazing!

ADDENDUM:

Well, my camera finally arrived from Dell. It was backordered. Played with it a bit. Looks very promising.  I won’t say it is the greatest but it is better than this one.

My .50-1/.25 play on PokerStars is moving back up. What a yo-yo that has been. I’m still out $60 odd at that level. I’d drawn even a week or whatever ago. Then, I dumped a quick hundred in some really bloody losses. Stud can be that way. I am on the mend. Nice session that was almost a double up this morning. Lots of poor play at the table and my medium strong hands held up.

Yes, it is amazing that Bodog would sign Justing Bonomo, just as Sorel Mizi got signed, and Ultimate Bet and Absolute had their problems, so did PokerStars, they just fixed it and went right on by.

The good news is that poker is alive and well on the internet, and we need to make sure it stays that way. We need people coming in and playing, regardless of past offenses by other players or problems on sites. Let’s keep smiling and keep playing…and writing about the great game of poker.
