Hell – Handbaskets – Linda
I am trying to play decent poker. I sit there are watch the guy push his 3’s up and win. Yesterday, I started with rolled up kings and came in third. I just got off a set over set hand where that was the weakest loser I had while dropping another buyin. Hell, I even lost twice with full houses yesterday.
I’m really considering taking a few weeks off from everything.
On to Hell, Hand baskets, and Politics…
George just got everybody on his case over Hitler comments. That poor bastard must be wishing it’d all end tomorrow. Talk about a cooler. His has run since 2001 when it looked like he might of hit a royal flush and ended up four flushed.
It is the political season. The season of hyperbola. As it all goes, he just playing in the same ballpark. I figure he’s so pissed at Reed, Pellosi et al that he’s willing to be McCain’s stalking horse against Obama who got issued a ducks back it seems. This guy has made more outlandish statements than Will and Grace. It seems the only person who doesn’t like him is his minister.
If you look at the stock market and run his chart against it they are opposites. He goes up and the market goes down. His economic ideas are a total disaster.
Obama’s going to get us out of Iraq and invade Pakistan. That makes sense. We’re doing worse in that area than we are in Iraq so lets heat that one up while we totally screw the people of Iraq who are depending on us to keep our word for a change. We hung the south’s Shia out to dry after the Gulf War and now Obama wants to make it the Sunni’s turn and Iran the power broker for the area.
I’m glad I lived when I did. We had a cooler with Nixon and stagflation. The pols wrung their hands when gas hit 60-cents. We didn’t have the creature comforts of today. We thought we worked hard but that didn’t compared with what many of you have to go through. There was war from about the time I was born and through Korea and the start of the cold war which affect my school year but I managed to miss Vietnam. I’m afraid that whats down the road makes all that a piece of cake.
Everybody talks about idiots maxing their mortgage for a hot car or vacation or whatever and now paying the piper. Those who didn’t are smart/ok but that budgeting pales in comparison to our national purse. The nation spends like drunken sailors and you are backing a guy who says we aren’t spending enough. This country is all our house and we’re mortgaging it to the hilt.
For those of you too dumb to realize it: you owe the good times to a president with Alzheimer’s who held in spending while creating incentives for growth and we used that up. It isn’t impossible to do it again but you have to see the trees instead of the forest.
In case you think I’m just bitching at Democrats, I’d vote for Barney Frank for president in a New York minute. He fiscally responsible and would balance spending/entitlements with fact. And, I think gays are wrong but that’s easy to look beyond for me but, evidently, not for others. That gay son-of-a-bitch from GD Massachusetts makes sense far beyond his stance on the UIGEA. If you are a Democrat, he is the one to listen to, if you can stand some honesty from a politician.
ADDENDUM:
The neighbors on each side of me have had a single son. The one spoils the crap out of his kid. He rides dirt bikes. He races them. He blows a couple of engines a summer at $1200 a pop. The kids is in a single parent household and summer the dad – a roofer – isn’t around days all summer so the kid is pretty much on his own. The other is in the trades with a union that is one of the last of the higher pay ones. He’s made his kid toe the line. He got some perks but played sports and got hauled to the weight room until he got a driver’s license. So, you know how things are turning out, right? Well, you’d be wrong. That kid that raised himself is a kid I claim for a son any time. The other has the family connection to the union and I would say he had a whole lot extra. But, that ol’ man that hauled him was a Caesar and never let the kid develop like he might have. We all think we’ve got the answer in politics, poker and neighbor evaluation and we don’t always get it right
