Originality at the poker table?

Close but no cigar!

I’ve been ‘watching’ the 10K 7-stud on Pokernews.com. Archie Karas who turned $50 in to 17-mil, is playing and this exchange happened. (Archie prides himself on his stud credentials.)

Ted Lawson: “What’d you make this time?”
Karas: “Flush.”
Lawson: “Jesus Christ! Rivered me three times!!”

I imagine there are those that might start talking about ears and such. There are plenty of reports of hands like that. Whether it is .02-.04 or 1000-2000, you can’t prevent the chase and the pot odds often give a reason at stud or other limit flavors.

Another interesting exchange was reported by the pun-loving folks doing the feed. No pun from the TassieDevil — who’s also pimping for Full Tilt — but funny to me.

Hellmuth was overheard chatting to Forrest about the Mike Matusow weight-loss bet with Forrest saying, “Mike will definitely lose that bet money back to me some way!”

Raymer then comments that he should buy up somebody’s owed debt which leads to Forrest replying, “…there should be a website - bidonpokerdebts.com - there would probably be a market for it!”

You listening TonyG? I expect a cut. Don’t think the points will be the same as for our T$ exchange.

I saw a site on the net that allows you to buy small chunks of loans made to people who talk their item and give their credit history. That varies from almost CD rates to almost late credit card rates. I’ve got to think this might have to go higher than even that.

Compncards reported:

Nick “The Greek” Karras and Phil Hellmuth were just overhead saying the following:

“The Greek”: “You’re the best. You’re the best by far.”

Hellmuth: “I don’t know about that. Maybe the luckiest.”

Has Hellmuth learned humility? Stay tuned to see.

If you are making player notes here, the one for Compncards’ view of the world has to be “serious chaser”…

There are several other Karas quotes spread out over things. Interesting fellow. The only Karas I ever played was at JV football and his first name was Alex – talk about a huge mismatch… Fortunately, he played the other side of the line. I lived. He was already a brute as a sophomore – I was a freshman. (East Gary killed us) (East Gary is now called Lake Station. I wonder why… lol)

ADDENDUM:

The computer wouldn’t come up this A.M. Evidently the boot sector got clobbered. I suspect a new game but the bios had not been completing every time so I looked at my warranty and it expires in 11 days. Bought another year of support for $149 for some safety.

I’ll throw in a few shots with the new camera. The peony was my Dad’s favorite flower. It is a nice springtime bit of garishness that’s always welcome this time of year. The sailboat is on our little lake and looks like a lot of fun with temp in the 80’s. I included the shot with the sky to show the beauty of the day. A half hour later we had heavy rain and a second day of tornado warnings. Tornado the day before went out over Lake Michigan just to the west of my location. Lucky in that. I got clobbered last year though with a microburst.

    Ken,

Although I guess you’ve already read it, Pauly’s post on Karras and his journey this morning is fantastic!

You are truly lucky you didn’t go up against Alex, though. Mongo like beans!
