You’ll find Poker Perambulation at a new address.

I did that four or so times every week here. It was mostly fun. I sure have enjoyed the almost two years of blogging. I started blogging here two years ago tomorrow so today’s post makes it 2 years. I’m not sure if I want to quit or just take some time off. It is like my poker. I enjoy the game but it has changed dramatically since the UIGEA tightened how everyone gets to the bottom line.

You hear the term in period plays. It comes from the actor referred to as his lordship and is often linked to “my good man”. It is also our bankroll that we take to the tables. Does the name “Greg Hogan” ring a bell? Maybe you remember his fire-and-brimstone Daddy – the one the kid didn’t feel he could turn to for help. Well, he’s gotten out of the clink and daddy will have a renewed chance to preach to his prodigal son. Sadly, I doubt that sermon will be about improving parenting. (more…)

That is a ‘new feature’ of PokerStars. And it sucks royally. The Internet and more important server farms and ISP’s try to be 5-9’s. In some areas they are. Overall, online poker ain’t 5-9’s.

If you haven’t heard the term before, 5-9’s is the old Bell System standard for up time. It is: 99.999% reliable. (more…)
