Turning Pages

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I did that four or so times every week here. It was mostly fun. I sure have enjoyed the almost two years of blogging. I started blogging here two years ago tomorrow so today’s post makes it 2 years. I’m not sure if I want to quit or just take some time off. It is like my poker. I enjoy the game but it has changed dramatically since the UIGEA tightened how everyone gets to the bottom line.

Capital

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

You hear the term in period plays. It comes from the actor referred to as his lordship and is often linked to “my good man”. It is also our bankroll that we take to the tables. We then practice bankroll management or should if longevity is our goal. You just can’t over commit and prosper without refunding. (more…)

My Bad III

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I have Fuel55 to thank for sending me to this bit of silliness. We’ve moved from tournament to ring here. And the highest of high stakes to boot. It is a session which features Tom Dwan (Durr) of forum fame and infamy in the link Fuel points us at. (more…)

My Bad

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Yes, I’ve said it and lived it. You may not believe this but I’m not perfect. Ego forces me to add, “Well who is?” It begs the subject: good-better-best; but it is my blog, right? (more…)

Luckbox Genius Rewarded

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Does the name “Greg Hogan” ring a bell? Maybe you remember his fire-and-brimstone Daddy – the one the kid didn’t feel he could turn to for help. Well, he’s gotten out of the clink and daddy will have a renewed chance to preach to his prodigal son. Sadly, I doubt that sermon will be about improving parenting. (more…)

(No All-In)

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

That is a ‘new feature’ of PokerStars. And it sucks royally. The Internet and more important server farms and ISP’s try to be 5-9’s. In some areas they are. Overall, online poker ain’t 5-9’s.

If you haven’t heard the term before, 5-9’s is the old Bell System standard for up time. It is: 99.999% reliable. (more…)

Multi-accounting – another scandal?

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I guess. But, what is clear? Can a case be made for multiple accounts? I have multiple accounts. I only use the one and have had multiples for a variety of reasons that won’t send me to the slammer or purgatory. Mea Culpa? I guess…if you insist… (more…)

Dear John, I’m writing you this letter

Friday, August 29th, 2008

The last blog talked about losing the poker issue in the RNC platform. I said “Color me dubious.” and I was right. It is back. The PPA –with their bad advice of the other day to post to the platform committee –  now want me to write McCain; I can do that. (more…)
