Not a Weekend Update

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

No Saturday Night Live quality jokes. Just a discussion of my ‘progress’ (jopke?) playing stud. Before you rush to another blog. A lot applies regardless of the type of low rent seat you occupy. (more…)

All-In All-Gone

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

The following was posted in an online poker forum. It evidently wasn’t important in the mind of Alex Scott on PokerStar’s staff to inform players in general. This is a major change that impacts all players and 2 plus 2 is hardly an acceptable vehicle for informing their players about such a change. (I know this is a long post but please stick with it.) In a Land Far Away…

No, this hasn’t turned into a Star Wars blog … yet …

I am being about as historic though. I’m talking about my transitions in my poker play. (more…)

Vindication?

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

My latest Stud book is by Ray Zee. (Won’t destroy its dignity by naming the other two.) I’ve been struggling over how to play Stud as you are all too aware. I supposedly see too many flops and am not aggressive enough. That has been something I’ve fought over everything from MMT’s on down or up – however, you wish to frame it. So, it is annoying to see that Poker Tracker’s ineffectual ranking system calls me a fish. From my cursory viewing, it is the tight players that are often the biggest losers. (more…)

PokerTracker (Stud)

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I bought this package. I know a lot of folks have used it with Hold’em. I recall CC liked to mention VP$IP. The package is valuable as a record keeping tool. This can vary as importing can be either labor intensive or automated. As to the bells and whistles it hypes, I don’t see it working very well. The flop games may do it better. (more…)

Sour Dogs

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Well, that isn’t a real title. Instead it is the last two titles from BadBlood’s little piece of the Internet. It is a rant that any of us either has made or has wanted to make. (more…)

Never buy a Toshiba ANYTHING

Monday, March 10th, 2008

or value anything or anyone. At least that is how it sometimes seems. You can’t be so negative and prosper. But you can select situations and learn along the way. So, today is a rant about that crapped out laptop and crap tables. What does it boil down to?  ALSO a bit of poker and some UIGEA stuff (more…)

A D-Lux apartment in the Sky

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Yes, Weeze; I want to talk about moving on up. Glenda has touched on it in discussing her play trying to outdo Chris Ferguson. Her experience is a lot like mine of late. She’s just the better, more experienced stud player. (more…)

The Believability Beta

Monday, February 18th, 2008

It is a basic tenant relating to our quality as human beings. But, integrity doesn’t necessarily apply at the poker tables; nor is it a cause for admiration. Still, believability is what will often separate us from the also ran. (more…)

So how’s it goin?

Friday, February 15th, 2008

That’s a common greeting. It is also a bit of confusion as I tried to get a handle on just how good or bad a stud player I am. I have even bought Poker Tracker for Stud and still don’t have a good idea. Although, I have a lot more statistics.
