Spoof

Online we depend on our site to police things. It may not be our very best alternative but what it is is our only alternative. The site has the best chance of resolving IP address checking and the like. (more…)

No not Duke; I mean Oakley. Remember? The sharpshooter. We have sharpshooters in all poker rooms — real or virtual. Since the days of the Texas Road Warriors, we’ve been concerned with the problem. But most of us ignore it and let the house handle it. Occasionally, they catch someone and we are shook. (more…)

I am in love with Amanda Leatherman

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Seeing that it is strictly an old fart mode passion, Joe Sebok doesn’t have a worry here. She’s the PokerRoad’s seemingly blond bimbo interviewer. You can see that type on just about every poker site that does the TV interview format. They typically bring a shudder to my frame as they play off their obvious “Look, I’m a girl.” persona. I actually feel sorry for them. About the only difference in the lot is the globular sizing on display and the various tint jobs. (more…)

Out and About

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

It was an interesting day in blogdom. M.C. live blogged the Million $ made for TV game that features a lot of name pros – including our blogging buddy here, TonyG. But… that is not all.

Conspiracy Prequel

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

I have a conspiracy theory article going up later. This meshes with it. It is a letter a novice player got after trying some sample software he downloaded. The rest of his post makes him look like what he is: a novice player with novice computer skills; but, it shows the sites aren’t just sitting back like many allege. Good stuff and a reasoned approach! Way to Go, PokerStars! (more…)

Strange Fruit

Billy Holiday’s song spoke about something far more important than a poker tournament in Barcelona. Yet, the title comes to mind after viewing some of the last qualifying match. The lynching aspect carried to our inane, poker-playing minds also comes into play. (more…)

The Wide World of

No, not sports with the poor schmuck tumbling off the ski jump; we’re talking poker. We argue whether poker is or isn’t a sport. What we neglect are adjectives. You might consider collegial, familial, fraternal, or whatever other ‘ial’ you come up with. We are missing the secret handshake but we have the secret language down pat. (more…)

Poker Junky Alert

Friday, August 31st, 2007

The next two days should give you all the fix you need. The EPT in Barcelona is providing two days of non-stop poker. Today, they’ll show 8 hours of TV table poker starting at 11AM EST. Tomorrow, the same with it being the final table. If sweatering Joe Speaker’s exploits on the felt without the joys of a hole cam makes your day, you’re in hog heaven (more…)

High Stakes Poker – Season 4 – Hammer Time

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

The first episode of the season is out of the can and on the airwaves … and ready to download as a torrent already. It is the big money season. It is the straddle game. And, just to try to make it interesting, there is a 72 sidebet. (more…)

Calling Natty Bumppo

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Cooper’s hero in the leatherstockings tales was able to outdo the Iroquois Confederation. The Mohawks are part of that. Kahnawake is the Canadian reservation for the Mohawks. It lies just outside Quebec. Most of the sites I play have servers there. (more…)
