Nice Weather and Nice Hoops

March 11th, 2010 by lifemeetspoker

We’ve been finally enjoying some nice weather the last few days, with temps. in the 60’s for I believe the last 4 days.  This is after having a stretch of close to three weeks where it was never above freezing, and not to mention snow has been on the ground since the 2nd or 3rd week of December.  In other words, 60’s feel like it’s about low 80’s at the beach, but only thing we are missing in central VA is the Ocean, ah well.

Exciting News

March 7th, 2010 by lifemeetspoker

This news has actually been in the works for a while, but I felt I would wait a while before actually saying it.  For some this won’t come as a surprise, but for others, I think it will: Read the rest of this entry »

Update

March 1st, 2010 by lifemeetspoker

Sorry for the lull in updates lately.  It really has little to do with my usual procrastinating self.  It has more to do that the couple times I looked at my entries while I was on pain medicines I really thought they were a little out there, so I decided to wait until most of them were out of my system before writing here again. Gotta Get Away?

February 11th, 2010 by lifemeetspoker

Well that sounds like a marvelous idea.  Tomorrow (in less than an hour, in fact) I turn 27.  We were originally playing to go to Florida, but because of the snow, and my wife having to work and not being able to find coverage we felt we didn’t have enough time to get down there.  Instead we decided to go to the Outer Banks, in North Carolina,

Poker, Movies, and Snow, Lots of Snow

February 2nd, 2010 by lifemeetspoker

Sorry for no update for a while.  Work, and things needed to be done around the house have kept me pretty busy.  Also, not much in the way of positive poker news, unless you are a sicko that enjoys bad beats stories.

R.I.P. J.D. Salinger

January 28th, 2010 by lifemeetspoker

J.D. Salinger’s “Catcher in the Rye” really started me off in the direction I wanted to go with my writing.  Before I read Salinger (which was surprisingly after high school a year or two) I read mostly boxing books.  As it did with millions of other people, something in his writing resonated within me, and in a way, has never left.  I just had a very good writing friend of mine tell me that when I write my novel (meaning me) he imagines it will read a lot like the first line in “Catcher in the Rye”  Other than being one of the best compliments I’ve ever heard about my writing, it’s also something I strive to be one day when I’m done playing poker player.

“If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you’ll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don’t feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.”
