Reprise
Now that the fury has mostly passed, I feel some reimagining of my previous post must take place. Some language in there was unnecessarily harsh and I must offer amends.
I bet you think I’m talking about “dickhead.” I’m not.
In my slightly buzzed state, I was perhaps a bit over dramatic (perhaps?). Phrases like “violated the sanctity of a blogger tournament” and “actions…are nothing short of abhorrent.” A little flowery and serious, doncha think?
Still, I abide by my basic premise. There is an integrity present in these events. Aside from the unceremonial bouncing of moi, there’s also the issue of where bartonf’s chips eventually ended up. Though it’s no fault of TripJax, the big stack he was gifted was a disadvantage to the other players. I don’t think anyone reading this would voluntarily put money into a tournament if they knew there were hijinks going on, like collusion or chip dumping. Whether or not the behavior was malicious or just plain retarded, it affected the procedings negatively. As more than a few mentioned, if you’re tired, just sit out and go to bed.Â
On a related note, a couple others mentioned the delight in tilting other bloggers with suckouts. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this because the basic goal remains to win the pot. The motivation may be different, but such behavior is not on par with voluntarily giving up your stack. Plus, the comedic values of a Waffle rant or a Hoyazo “fonkey” sighting are unmeasurable by current technology (and can I just say how disappointed I was to not receive such treatment when I felted Hoy a couple weeks back with 5h4h).
I did have one commenter call me a “douchebag,” but I didn’t approve his comment. Not because he was critical of my post–and me–but because he lacked basic human reading comprehension. So, if you want to call me names, at least have a point that applies to the post. If not, go back to whatever trollish message board you learned such behavior, where name-calling counts as cogent debate.
Alright, on to greater things. My finest poker memory to this point remains winning a blogger event to the WSOP. They don’t just let anyone play in those things, you know. So it is my pleasure to pimp the first(?) Bracelet Race of the Blogger Season.

I am regrettably unable to play. I’ll be sweating my middle-aged ass off in the desert paradise of Indio revving up for the reunion of Rage Against the Machine at the Coachella Music Festival, the final such event of my 30s. I hope my cane and orthopedic shoes hold up over the three days.
Aside from RATM, the band I’m most looking forward to seeing is Kings of Leon. Their new release is absolutely fantastic. Blew me right the fuck away and I loved the first two. But this one…Level 12.
No Mookie (T-Ball game) or Riverchasers (punk rock show) for me this week, but best of luck to everyone and…hey…let’s be good to each other.

This post reminded me of this one time that I was playing in the World Series of Poker. I had just sat down across from former World Series Champion Carlos Mortenson when I saw him take a quick look over. I could see the fear hit his face from out of nowhere like bukake on a vunerable young lass who got lost at the bus stop. You see, what people won’t tell you (mostly because they’ve never played in the World Series of Poker!) is that playing FOR a bracelet is an unbelievable experience, but playing AGAINST the Bracelet is enough to pee your pants. I don’t know if Carlos peed his pants that day, but I do know that I played in the World Series of Poker and they don’t just let anyone in those things.

I believe if you look back at Hoy’s posts you will find that some ranting about a well known blogger calling his pre-flop raise heads up with 54.

I like my grammar in this post better

In a tournament, blogger or otherwise, anything goes! Even peeing of the pants.

Hey yo. I don’t get what the big deal is? It sounds like you are still tilting from the situation. I understand that you might want the other player to sit out, but he paid his money too, so he’s entitled to do whatever he wants with it. Why should he just sit out if he can start pushing every hand and possibly luckbox into the money or a huge stack. If you were adjusting to his play, you would have been calling his all-ins with crappier cards, and instead of complaining about him "gifting" his stack to Tripjax, you’d be speaking about how you raped the donkey for all he was worth and laughing about it. Also, equating the donkey’s donkitude with collussion and chip dumping is really a far fetched statement and suggests that Trip somehow benefited unfairly from the donkey. Am I wrong? I might be. No disrepect intended, because I’ve got nothing but respect for you, Speaker. This one, though, just sounds like sour grapes.

"A little flowery and serious, doncha think?"
That’s why we love ya Tulips!
Enjoy the shows, as a RATM fan let me know if they still bring it or needed to borrow your cane.

No, Jordan. Where you miss the point is that he was not trying to luckbox into the money or a huge stack. He was trying to lose so he could, in his own words, "go to bed." He was deliberately trying to lose his chips, an act which altered the tournament for everyone remaining. His behavior was unfair to EVERYONE. As this is a series of events, with a final leaderboard, I’d say his actions reverberated even further, even if minor in scale. Of course I’m not sending any disrepect Tripjax’s way. He had nothing to do with it. He did the same thing I did, put my money in ahead against a fucking idiot. And if he hadn’t hit his bullshit card twice on me, I’d have been the one with the massive stack and it would have been unfair…to EVERYONE.
