I am beaten, crushed and suicidal. I've just played a session this lunchtime, and got a rush of cards. AK, AA JJ and had them all beaten by a bloke that was calling my raises with cards like 74o . He took me to the cleaners, If I flopped a set of Jacks he would follow my betting and hit the run every time on the river. Every time I got decent cards I raised, and every time he called. I didn't win one hand against him. Thanks for listening, end of rant, this evening I'll see if I can play with him again. |

It's sure horrible when it's happening. I try to think of it as a cycle and hopefully I won't have to cycle through it again for awhile. You have the right idea though, hoping to play him again.

sounds like a good time to take a $ to the .01-.02 tables and play the mad man. I've been playing stud so that seems normal. Ken Prevo Blogging at: www.pokerperambulation.com |

I love really loose games, $1-$2 used to have over 50% seeing the flop, now I see .50c-$1 with 20%. I think the good old days have gone. |

Come over to the stud tables. The fish all swam over. Typical percentages displayed run 54% or more -- most of the time. I had an $11 pot at the .25-.50 StudHi tables. If you like zoos, this one has all the species on display

But isn't that why we play poker? We want the ups and downs, the thrills and chills, the RUSH of emotion? I always thought I played to make $$, now I wonder...since I can't seem to beat the game. I keep telling myself that K-K heads-up will one day win another pot but right now I'm not sure. Oh the pain! Linda R. Geenen http://table-tango.pokerworks.com/ What game are you playing? |

Hi Meit'r how's it going? I feel your pain: http://pokerworks.com/article-925.html Actually I've been on a bit of rush, at my local fish ponds and have a well stocked freezer right now, but last month was a bad one. jb "Never try to bluff a stump." |

Hi JB. Up to now I've always been winning. Increasing my earnings by being a bonus whore, but these days I lose $200 to earn a $100 bonus whereas before it was the opposite. I am always evaluating my play and I can't find anything that has changed except for one thing. These days I make much more notes on players that say "Watch this ones money go". And true enough I never see them again. The only problem is that they always seem to catch me. To tell the truth I have forgotton what a rush of cards was. |

The poker world has changed. It does seem harder to make a bit of profit. I was never a bonus whore before but that is my current path. I played on FT for a long time on a 100 deposit. Ran it double and then hit a rough streak and got felted. So, on the 2nd I opened a new account with $190 with $200 I had on ePassporte with it costing me $10 to do. I ran that up about 30 and then dropped in a few days to 140, last week I was back up and approaching 300. Right now I'm back down to around 250. Along the way I cleared $38 in bonus. That is more variance than my game usually encounters. Looking at how it has happened. Tables are as loose or looser than I recall. I've watched a couple of levels of play higher and it is about the same. I played mostly NL in the past. Now I am playing limit and that mixed with so many seeing flops is the problem. You play a premium hand that should be a favorite. Yet, no hand is a favorite when there are so many hands active and those hands are playing a no fold game. I've been experimenting. JB keeps telling me to bet those big door hands. I'm now limping. When I bet, it with a stronger hand than the past. Seems somebody's going to bet the round for me anyway. I'm playing Casper Milktoast through 5th street. Nobody has a clue about my hand and just calling has put more in the pot than an aggressive game would. I'm expecting the suckout will happen. But, it seems to be the best way to operate. I play a few more speculative hands than before, if I can limp without a completion. I am gone usually on a blank on fourth street. I look like the wimp i am playing like but nobody bothers to notice and when I do go to raising get callers. The game I outlined is a really crappy way to play stud. I haven't played that style long enough to see real results but it looks a promising as a more TAG style. Here's what JB suggested gets me. I have concealed aces and a K suited up. Some donkey raises early and I repop. He and probably two other call. I've defined the hand for just what it is. They have their small pair, flush draw or whatever. Until I can pair the board, my bets are called. Often called after with their flush draw or whatever letting them hang around because of the pot odds. I can't really call that totally stupid. It is a loose game but it can grab some nice pots. I've got the best hand on 3rd and 4th and then either fold or get outdrawn playing from there on out. I'm consistently loosing with hands that are likely winners when I'm beat with their 3 down cards playing with the way the pot went making that actually a viable play.
