I use Newsgator to aggregate all the blogs I read regularly. There are 27 blogs on my list, of which 14 are poker related. The great thing about using an aggregator is that I can instantly see which blogs have new content. Otherwise I'm visiting 27 blogs one by one. I do sometimes click through to the blog itself -sometimes Newsgator doesn't display the pictures, sometimes it only shows the start of the blog entry, but usually I will not visit the blogs, which I do feel slightly guilty about - I'm not seeing the adverts which they may rely on for paying for bandwidth (though you can get adverts to show on Newsgator, and I'm not showing on their hit counter as a visit, so they don't really know how many readers they have. The real downside of using Newsgator is that you don't see the comments. If I'm particularly interested in a post I'll click through to read the comments as well, but usually I don't bother, and so I'm missing out on a part of the "blog experience." For my own blog, I'm not bothered about anyone seeing the ads, and there's nothing spectacular in the sidebars for anyone to see, though an odd comment is nice just to know that somebody is reading it . Other bloggers however, have gone to the trouble to have more than just the text of the posts. Basically, I use Newsgator because its convenient, but would visit the blogs themselves if I had the time.

I totally agree on the 'time' factor. I would love to read more blogs but I can't seem to get there. Every now and then I spend a few hours here and a few hours there, but it's tough. Thanks for joining and posting.

I was using Bloglines but switched to Google Reader because I could subscribe to most of the blogs I read. I have an absurd number of poker ones that I've just started to read.

As a Firefox user, I have used the NewsFox addon. It works nicely. You can see what it looks like at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/629/previews/ It operates very smoothly for me. The latest Firefox also has live feed capability. If you save a bookmark, that does RSS updates and shows you the article titles. But, it doesn't show those already read any differently. I really like NewsFox. Works well and is easy to figure out. If you search their addon in that genre, you may find one you like better. I have tried a couple and keep coming back to NewsFox. Not sure if it is better or just comfortable at this point.

It has only been recently that I started using Bloglines for getting a quick look at which of my favorite blog sites have been updated recently. I must admit, however, that I miss the look and feel and comments from these blogs. Some blogs only have a small snipet viewable via the Bloglines window and you have to go visit them to read the whole thing. I must admit that since using Bloglines, I have left far fewer comments on my fellow bloggers sites than I did when I just went out and visited them. I think another reason to use a viewer instead of visiting is to block out all the spam advertising that are typically associated with blogs. You know, the usual poker site sign up bonus ads and the AdSense text ads, etc. I really don't like those anyway. So, it's a toss up for me. Part of me wants to go visit the blogs directly and another part of me wants to save time and just view the new posts when they are available. One things for sure, Bloglines will decrease ad revenues for blog sites that are heavily splattered with ads.

Google Reader has and AWESOME toolbar button that let's you "click" through to the updated acutal posts from your reader acct. Install the NEXT button from the Settings/Goodies tab and then you can click it to go go to the next updated site. I LOVE THIS BUTTON. You get to see only updated sites and the see ACTUAL site.

I've just tried Google Reader, and I'll second the above post. The "Next" button is great - you see the blog in all its glory, but only visit the blogs that have new posts!
