At the WSOP 1978 final table, Bobby Baldwin held his Q♦ Q♣ against Crandall Addington's 9♦ 9♠ – a pair against a pair. Addington raised $10.000 at the pre-flop, after what Baldwin moved all-in.
The flop came Q♠ 9♥ K♣, giving both players three-of-a-kind's. the fact was that Baldwin had a better one.
A♠ hit on the turn, giving no help to either addington nor Baldwin.
The river brought the T♦, so now it was a trip against a trip – and Baldwin won the duel, claiming the 1978 World Series of Poker Champion title along with $210.000 worth of prize money.
