On Saturday, April 26, six players came to the final table of the WPT World Championship in search of one of the most coveted titles in poker, not to mention one of the largest first prizes. The WPT Ladies Championship was the culmination of a series of five tournaments in the inaugural season of the WPTL. A total of 150 players entered the $1,500 buy-in tournament at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and on April 14th, the six final table players were determined. 26 Apr, 2008

In January of 2008, the World Poker Tour launched the WPT Ladies League (WPTL). A series of five tournaments would take place with buy-ins ranging from $300 to $1,500 to allow female players to play in a tournament environment, and the final table of the championship event would play out in front of the TV cameras for a WPT episode on GSN. 17 Apr, 2008

When the final table of the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic began on Wednesday, April 9th, the two names that stood out were the seasoned pros – Erik Seidel and Ted Forrest. Twice during each season, the World Poker Tour travels to Foxwoods, a resort including the world’s largest casino located in the lush forests of Mashantucket, Connecticut. The World Poker Tour (WPT) has been visiting the biggest little city in the world – Reno – since its first season, but the current stop there will be its last. The WPT Invitational began, as it does each year, with a reception that included an open bar, luscious dinner buffet, and much socializing between the invited celebrities and poker pros. By the time everyone had taken their seats to play, the count was 445 players. Fun was in progress. 4 Mar, 2008

On February 2, 2008, a total of 82 women entered the World Poker Tour Ladies event at Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. The tournament was a $1000 buy-in event that was part of the L.A. Poker Classic series and held in association with the Ladies Poker Association (LPA). 8 Feb, 2008
