Lawrence DiChristina has been charged with helping run an illegal gambling ring on Staten Island that brought in players from New York and New Jersey.
DiChristina's hearing is unusual because Randal Heeb was called to give testimony on the premise that playing poker for money doesn't really constitute illegal gambling. Heeb holds an economics doctorate from the University of Chicago, was a professor at France's INSEAD business school, and he's taught at Yale. But his testimony was all about poker.
P-s-s-s-s-T! Randal Heeb has a gold bracelet and he's scored cash in this year's WSOP!
