The online poker world - or most of it - has been tuned in to all of the events surrounding Black Friday and the aftermath of the DoJ's indictments.
Chad Elie, who pleaded guilty earlier this year to aiding offshore online poker companies in accepting and making payments from United States companies, was sentenced today.
Elie is looking at a five-month prison sentence ordered by U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan. Kaplan also ordered Elie to forfeit $500,000.
From Washingtonpost.com: It seemed Elie didn’t care whether he was doing something illegal as federal investigators closed in, “playing a game with the government, a catch me if you can game with the government,” the judge said.
“This entire case reflects a situation in which there was ... a criminally reckless spitting in the eye of the government,” he said.
