Child Rescue Association Charity Tournament

A charity tournament to benefit the Child Rescue Association of North America (focuses on eliminating the child commercial sex industry in the U.S. and Canada), will be hosted by Annie Duke and Howard Lederer. Scheduled for November 3 at the Bicycle Casino in the LA area, Sumner Redstone of Viacom fame and numerous celebrities and poker pros will join the fundraiser. The $200+40 tournament will begin at 8pm and spectators are welcome for $75.
Ylon Schwartz Incognito Chess Player

After taking 4th place for $3.8 million at the 2008 WSOP Main Event, Ylon Schwartz plays the WSOP each year and other tournaments around the world. He also plays chess in his home state of New York. In a small neighborhood event called the Pioneer Square Chess 2010 Championship, the Brooklyn native won for $100 in cash. The article claims that he is an incognito player, but the poker industry knows him as a respected poker pro.
Alex Sink's Bid for Florida Governorship

In Alex Sink’s bid for the governorship of Florida, she and her husband released five years of tax returns for public viewing. Sink’s husband, Bill McBride, reports his poker winnings and losses. The Seminole Hard Rock player showed losses of $11K in 2007, nearly $18K in 2008, and $5K in 2009, though the latter year also indicated a win of $10,885 in a poker tournament. Sink, however, has managed to stay away from the tables throughout her political career.
SpadeClub Migrates Players to ZEN Network

SpadeClub was a membership-based free money online poker site in the US that offered prizes and seats into major tournaments. The CardPlayer-operated site was made more famous by Jeff Shulman’s hat logo at the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table. But SpadeClub has ceased operations and is migrating customers to the ZEN Network, another free play site. SpadeClub players have 30 days to cash out accounts and move to ZEN should they choose to do so.
Space Adventures Offer Rides

Poker player and Cirque du Soleil CEO Guy Laliberte paid $35 million in 2009 to travel to outer space, which may top all poker player adventures. But now anyone can do it…if they have tens of millions of dollars. And for $100 million, a person can fly to the moon. Space Adventures is offering rides, and it remains to see if any prop bets result in more poker players in outer space.
Michael Phelps Plays the Borgata Poker Open

Michael Phelps can swim, but he’s not exactly a fish at the poker tables. The Olympic gold medalist has been known to play a poker tournament or two, and the Borgata in Atlantic City seems to be his casino of choice. After playing in the January events of the Winter Poker Open there, he returned for the September Borgata Poker Open. He didn’t make the money yet, but he did compete in the $2K Double Elimination Heads-Up event and may play another.
Kris Marshall to Grow Bodog Europe

Bodog may be looking to expand its European influence and then go global. Recently, Bodog hired Kris Marshall, a man who previously worked as the lead analyst at Full Tilt Poker and Party Gaming before that. He looks to employ a strategy for Bodog that will grow the business, specifically with Bodog Europe, and exploit new opportunities as they are presented. CEO Patrik Selin notes that Marshall is part of a larger team being constructed.
Hustler Casino Hosts Charity Poker Tournament for Biodiesel

The September 27th event will be $500 NLHE tournament with $200 rebuys and $100 spectator seats, and a silent auction will feature a variety of items. Commerce Casino's latest Hold’em Series tournaments run through the first three weeks of September. This week, it hosted a $120 buy-in NLHE event with a $300K guarantee , and the field of 3,030 players found its winner in Rudy Fulson, who walked away with the $100K guaranteed first place prize, the largest amount ever awarded to a player in a $120 buy-in tournament. The full-time plumber plans to support his family with the money.
Cereus Network Purchase by Blanca Games Possible Violation?
