Aussie Millions Main Event Day 4
The final 22 players in the Aussie Millions Main Event returned to the Crown Casino to play down to a final table. Notable players still in the hunt included Max ‘The Italian Pirate’ Pescatori and 8-time WSOP bracelet winner Erik Seidel, while local favorite Antonio Casale started off Day 4 with the chip lead. The bustouts started fast and furious with Remi Westebro, Patrick Kellogg and Alexey Rozenberg all heading to the rail in the early stages of play. Michael Chrisanthopoulos started his run toward the chip lead when he took out Hiroshi Shimamura in 17th place. Chrisanthopoulos called Shimamura’s all in with A♥-J♠, and was rewarded with a flop of A♣-5♦-2♣ to crack Shimamura’s pocket Tens.
Chrisanthopoulos’ surge to the chip lead really took off after a big hand with Robert Holster. Holster raised from the cutoff and Chrisanthopoulos re-raised from the big blind. Holster three-bet with pocket Kings, and Chrisanthopoulos went all in over the top with A♦-K♥. Holster called, and Chrisanthopoulos was drawing to three outs. The flop came down A♥-9♣-2♣, and Holster couldn’t catch the case King to retake the hand. Chrisanthopoulos stacked a massive pot, and Holster was eliminated soon after by Peter Ling.
Crown Casino regular Antonio Casale took out Max Pescatori in 10th place ($135,000) right before the dinner break. Preflop, Pescatori raised, and Casale re-raised. Pescatori called, and the flop came down Jack-high with two spades. Casale went all-in with 8♥-8♣, and Pescatori called with A♠-Q♠ for the flush draw and two overcards. No help on the turn or river, and the Italian Pirate was done.
Chrisanthopoulos took on the role of aggressor late in the day, knocking out the last two competitors to set the final table. First, he took out Robert Akery after turning a set of threes on a board of A♣-9♣-4♦-3♦. Chrisanthopoulos fired first, and Akery raised with A♦-3♣. Chrisanthopoulos re-raised, and Akery called off the last of his chips with two pair.
Chrisanthopoulos’ set held, and Akery was eliminated. After the dinner break, Chrisanthopoulos took out Nico Behling with a turned full house holding A♣-3♥ to eliminate Behling in 8th place and set up the 7-player final table.
As Chrisanthopoulos finished the day with a dominating lead over the rest of the field the final table chip counts looked like this -
