EPT Baden Day 2
The stars were out for Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Baden event, with top names like Patrik Antonius, Ram Vaswani and Thomas Wahlroos returning for their shot at the €670,800 top prize. Sander Lylloff kicked off the day with the chip lead, but he would end the day as a railbird, as the first two levels provided nonstop action for the players and spectators. The first two levels of play saw almost 50 players eliminated, with big names like Barny Boatman and Barry
Greenstein heading to the rail. Lylloff's demise came after losing big hands back-to-back to find himself on life support, including one to NPL London Champion Peter Gould. He tossed his last few chips in the middle holding 10♥-8♥ and was outdrawn by a 4♥-7♦ when the 7♣ came on the river to send the EPT Barcelona champ to the rail early in the day.Patrik Antonius knows what it takes to win the EPT Baden, having come from a big chip deficit in 2005 to do just that, but his shot at another Austrian EPT championship ended early on Day 2. In his final hand, Antonius raised preflop and got one caller in Acar Mazlum. The flop brought K♥-7♠-9♠, and both men checked. Mazlum led out on the turn when the 10♣ fell, Antonius raised and Mazlum called. When the 6♠ came on the river, Mazlum went all in with A♠-2♠, and Antonius called with K♠-J♣. Mazlum's nut flush was good, and Antonius was busted.
Other notable players eliminated on Day 2 included Mark Vos, Dario Minieri, Thomas Wahlroos, Katja Thater and Dave ‘El Blondie' Colclough. Colclough went to the rail when he stuck his last few chips in with A♣-4♠, and Hevad Khan called with A♦-J♣. No 4 for Colclough and he was done.
With 40 players remaining, Day 2 play ended with some big names still in the field, notable Hevad Khan, Ram Vaswani, Surinder Sunar and Thor Hansen. Acar Mazlum finished up the day with a slight chip lead over Gunnar Rabe, and the top ten chip counts were as follows -
