Gus Hansen
Meet Gus Hansen, a.k.a. the Great Dane, one of the most aggressive and successful professional players in poker. It is obvious (even Gus approved it) that his aggression comes from times when Gustav played backgammon professionally, as backgammon is a game of aggression as well as of strategy. Although Gus Hansen is known to have risen to popularity among poker enthusiasts in the beginning of 2000, it was 2002's WPT that truly skyrocketed him to fame. Then, he took 1st place at Five Diamonds, which established him as a top-winning player.Gustav Hansen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was already a successful backgammon player when he first started to play poker in Santa Cruz, California. Hansen's first public appearance was in the World Poker Tour, where he snatched a victory in Five Diamonds at 2005, and WPT has brought him fame and recognition worldwide since then.
Hansen is also famous for his participation in online poker with his PokerChamps.com online poker room. The project has been very successful thus far - it has superior software and interface compared to other top online poker rooms. Gus is, of course, very proud of his creation: "During the last year I have dedicated much of my time to the creation of the best poker software on the net - which I truly believe PokerChamps.com is turning out to be.
