Main Poker Events
Just before the end of the EPT London main event, the European Poker Tour and PokerStars held another event for the elite poker players still remaining in London. It was the £1 Million Showdown, a £20,000 buy-in tournament for those with a taste for the excessive. The event would ensure a small, solid field and some intense poker.

The turnout at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London for the European Poker Tour’s London stop was indicative of the excitement surrounding Season 5 of the EPT. Though the event was originally capped at 500 players, so many players turned out that the organizers decided to allow alternates and accommodate those wanting to register. In the end, that number was 596.

Following the stellar launch of Season 5 of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in September, it seemed clear that the rest of the EPT stops would be well-attended. After 619 players entered the first stop in Barcelona, London was next, and it proved to be the most popular tournament to hit London since, well, the 2007 EPT London.

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) launched its second season on September 1st in Macau, and the record-setting tournament was only a sign of things to come. The 538 players who entered the Macau main event made it the largest poker tournament ever held in Asia. On the heels of that success, the APPT headed to its second stop of the season - the Walker-Hill Casino in Seoul, Korea.

Several weeks after the incredible John Phan victory at the WPT Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino, the World Poker Tour traveled to the opposite end of the country for one of its favorite stops - the Borgata in Atlantic City.Though attendance was down quite significantly for the WPT main event at the Bicycle Casino last month, the tour hoped to pick it up again at the Borgata Poker Open.

The kick-off of the fifth season of the European Poker Tour couldn’t have gone more smoothly. It began with the EPT Awards on September 9th and the beginning of the poker tournament the following day in Barcelona. A great turnout for the main event, many of the most famous faces in poker, and a European winning the title made for a successful start to the EPT season.

When it wraps in April, players around the globe anxiously await the release of the next season’s schedule so they can begin planning their tournament stops. The anticipation for the start of Season 5 of the EPT was palpable, especially after some post-WSOP downtime.

Macau has been buzzing with the presence of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) for the past couple of weeks. The gaming mecca, part of the People’s Republic of China, was the home to the kick-off event of the APPT’s second season on September 1st with the main event won by Edward Sabat.
