Full Tilt Poker has kicked off their fourth Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) slate of tournaments, scheduled with over $4 million in prize money this weekend. The series kicked off Friday May 11th, with a $216 NL Hold ‘Em tourney with a $300,000 guarantee, easily eclipsed by the final prize pool of $514,600.

It's been a question for months - how will sites get people registered for their WSOP seats this year? As you may recall, Harrah's announced earlier this year that they will no longer be accepting third-party registrations for the World Series of Poker, to be held June 1 - July 17th at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

I know because an opponent told me so yesterday. I had sat down in a Limit Hold'em game and won the first three hands, with A-A, A-K, and 9-9, uncalled. After folding for about an hour I picked up J-4 of spades in the cut off. I won't discuss my reasoning. Maybe it was donkish. I decided it was time to do something. With four limpers in front I raised.

By now, you know that Tony G poker and Doyle's Room are the latest casualties of the UIGEA. Doyle's Room, part of the Tribeca Tables network, announced this week that they would no longer accept US players. This is just the latest in a list of shutdowns that has claimed Paradise, Party, Interpoker and a host of others.

Recreational online poker players from America have hit a funny crossroads of sorts thanks to the US government's prosecution of all things short of the game they love. They can't reliably deposit money back into their accounts, but if they're willing to wait a while, they can most likely pull money out of their accounts.
