Poker Dome Tournament
On Memorial Day Weekend, Mansion Poker began one of the biggest televised poker series in history, the Poker Dome. For 43 weeks, Mansion Poker and Fox Sports Net will televise six-person tournaments, culminating in a six-person winner-takes-all $1,000.000 tournament. And right now, players on Mansion Poker can win a seat to the preliminary rounds for only a penny. That's right, for a limited time only Mansion is running 1 cent buy-in tournaments - Wednesday to Sunday to win a seat to the weekly televised $25,000 tournaments. All events will be televised by Fox Sports Net, and all events will take place inside the Poker Dome. While the Poker Dome awaits its permanent location inside the Neonopolis located on Fremont Street, the first few events will be held in a plush poker arena inside the Tropicana hotel and casino where the players are sequestered inside a soundproof room while the audience watches the action, hole cards and all, on an array of plasma screens around the dome. Each player is the focus of one screen, where their hole cards, chip count, and even their heart rate is displayed to the studio audience! Tournaments are played in a "speed poker" format, with players on the clock with a 15-second time limit for each hand, keeping the action moving at a lightning pace by using two dealers at the table that switch after every hand.
George Greenberg, FSN's executive vice president of programming and production, says the network is very invested in the success of this venture. "From a network perspective, this will be the largest poker deal ever brokered in television history. This will feel every bit as big as our Fox NFL telecasts."
Weekly tournament winners will be flown to Las Vegas to compete in one of 36 televised qualifiers, played live at the Mansion Poker Dome and broadcast by Fox Sports Net each Sunday night at 11 PM. Each of the 36 weekly winners will collect a cash prize of $25,000 and a seat at one of six televised semi-finals.
Winners of the semi-finals will receive a $50,000 cash prize and a seat at the televised final. The six seat final will be broadcast live and played for a winner-takes-all $1,000,000 courtesy of Mansion. In addition, all final table players will be awarded a $16,000 package for another Mansion Poker event.
