The Asian Poker Tour, operated by AsianLogic, has announced the signing of three well-known poker pros to sponsorship deals. JC Tran, Quinn Do, and Nam Le will now represent the APT in tournaments around the world, including but not limited to the APT series, and make appearances on behalf of the poker tour.

It wasn’t too many years ago that if you wanted to find a big tournament with huge prize pools you had to do some real planning. The biggest and most prestigious event of the year of course is the WSOP held in Las Vegas. To get a ticket to the big dance, players had to have money and a lot of it.

Just as the European Poker Tour (EPT) rolled into Barcelona, Spain, to launch its fifth season of poker tournaments, they kicked it all of with a bang. The EPT Awards were held on September 9th at the Opium del Mar to honor the achievements of players – and even the media – during Season 4.

The Czech Republic might make history for the game of poker. If the Czech Association of Poker Clubs has anything to say about it, the game will not only exempt the game from lottery legislation but classify it as an official sport of the country.According to a recent article in The Prague Post, pressure is being applied to the Finance Ministry of the Czech Republic to recognize poker as a sport.

An all-too common theme for the online poker community, cheating has again surfaced, and this time it was at the hands of a well-respected member of the online poker industry. Brian Townsend, co-owner and manager of CardRunners and Full Tilt “red pro,” has admitted to and apologized for multi-accounting with online accounts on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.

The World Poker Tour added a new stop to its tour last year, and it was not part of the normal schedule. WPT Canada was a special series of tournaments held and filmed for later broadcast on Canadian television. After several months, it has been announced that Rogers Sportsnet will begin airing the shows on the week of September 1, 2008.
