PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Day 3
The bubble burst early on Day 3 of the PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure and 120 players were happy to hear it go. But only one can walk away with the $2 Million first prize, and at the end of Day 3, it was David ‘The Dragon’ Pham who sat in the lead of the 40 remaining players. Joining Pham among the survivors of Day 3 were Thierry Van Den Berg, Rhett Butler, and William Thorson. Eric ‘Rizen’ Lynch started the day with the big stack, and played an aggressive Day 3 to finish up just outside of the top ten chip stacks while many notable players went to the rail. Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier started off just behind him in second place, and finished just ahead, in ninth, after taking out EPT Baden Champion Julian Thew and Team PokerStars teammate Hevad Khan on Day 3.
Victor Ramdin was the only other member of Team PokerStars to make it through Day 3, as Khan took out Barry Greenstein early in the day when Greenstein’s Kings ran into Khan’s Aces. Khan picked up an autographed copy of Greenstein’s book Ace on the River, and had plenty of time to read it later that night after Grospellier sent him to the rail. Team PokerStars member Andre Akkari was also eliminated on Day 3.
Jon Friedberg started Day 3 with a mountain of chips in fifth place, but ran into some bad hands and went out late on Day 3. On his final hand, Friedberg called an all in from Asa Smith with K-Q, and was busted when Smith’s pocket eights held up to eliminate Friedberg. Asa Smith was the last player eliminated on Day 3 when he got all his chips in holding the nut straight with 8-9 on a 7-6-10 board. Glen Chorny had flopped bottom two pair with 6-7, and made his full house on the turn to send Smith to the rail in 40th place.
