The third stop of the inaugural Latin American Poker Tour has wrapped up in the beautiful resort town of Punta del Este in Uruguay, and Spanish player Jose Miguel Espinar has claimed victory. He is taking $241,735 back to Valencia, Spain, along with another LAPT title for the European contingent.

The One Step Closer Foundation will be holding its first annual All In for CP Celebrity Charity Tournament in Los Angeles on August 3rd to benefit those dealing with living life with cerebral palsy. Numerous poker and Hollywood celebrities are scheduled to attend the poker fundraiser that has been a long time in the works.

The Budding Ivey Foundation has been busy since its formation earlier this year. After donating funds to Empowered 2 Excel and an organization that assists the Salvation Army, Phil Ivey has put together another event for his foundation on behalf of Empowered 2 Excel. It will take place on July 1st at the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas.

As a kick-off event to The Grand Poker Series at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino this month, Montel Williams hosted a charity poker tournament to benefit his multiple sclerosis organization. The event took place on Friday, June 6th at the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas.

After the initial rush of the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour, day 2 featured down pouring rain and another tournament starting up. There was a $1000 second chance event and over 150 players showed up to give tournament poker in Costa Rica another go. Sam Simon, creator of the Simpsons, talk show host Montel Williams, and LA Dodger Orel Hershiser showed up to participate.

On the evening of May 8th, celebrities and professional poker players gathered at San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino in Southern California to host a poker tournament on behalf of Ante Up for Africa, an event hosted by the group’s organizers Annie Duke and Don Cheadle. The combined funds raised from the tournament, silent auction, and contribution from San Manuel, was over $500,000.

On May 3rd and 4th, exactly 53 of the top female poker players in the world gathered in London for the third annual Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship. And out of a field that included players like WSOP Europe main event champion Annette Obrestad, it was Liv Boeree who won the title.
