American Airlines
Two Aces.
Ajax
The name of an Ace and Jack in the pocket, suited or otherwise.
All-In
When player bets all the chips he has.
Aggressive Player
Player who rarely calls, but raises and re-raises instead.
Active Player
Player who is still in the hand.
Action
Checking/Betting/Raising. A game in which players are playing a lot of pots is considered an "action" game.
Act
An intentional tell intended to give false information about a hand.
Ace-High
A five card hand that contains one Ace, with no pair, flush or straight in it.
Aces Up
A hand that contains a pair of Aces and any other pair.
Aces Full
A full house with any pair and three aces.
Arkansas Flush
Four-card flush.
Ax
a)The percentage of a pot kept by the management to pay expenses; usually called drop. b)A term used to describe a hand containing an Ace and any other card.
Automatic Bluff
A bluff, made, regardless of one's cards, in a situation in which the bet usually wins
Automatic Bet
A bet, made, regardless of one's cards, in a situation in which the bet usually wins.
Asian Stud
A California game, a form of 5-card stud, played with an open deck.
Assault Rifle
In Omaha, hole cards that are A-K-4-7 of any suit(s)
Assigned Bettor
The player who is first to bet in a round.
Asian Games
The former name for California games. The term is still sometimes used in Californian casinos and card-rooms.

A California game, a form of five-card stud, played with an open deck.

An ancient Persian game that seems to have originated from a 16th century in Persia, and is considered to be the progenitor of poker. The game had similar hand rankings, and was played in a fashion similar to 5-card stud, only that it had 5 different suit
Artist
A cheater who manipulates the deck, i.e. falsely shuffles the cards so as to arrange them in a predetermined manner, or who palms cards, or uses any other of scores of cheating methods involving card manipulation or sleight of hand. Synonym - Mechanic.

Big game, usually the biggest game in a particular poker room.
Argine
The queen of clubs. May be an anagram of Regina (queen in Latin), or a corruption of Argea.
Ante Bean
An ante, or a chip used to ante.
Ante Up
Put one's ante in the pot.
Ante and Straddle
A game in which the player to the left of the dealer (the ante) puts in (usually) one chip before getting any cards, and the player to his left (the straddle) puts in two chips.
Announced Bet
A declaration by a player, on his turn, of the amount of his bet, or that he is betting.
Announce
In high/low games, declaring one's hand as high or low or both.
An Ace Working
An ace in a hand.
Anaconda
A form of 7-Card Stud in which cards are passed to left and right, sometimes multiple times, and sometimes with five cards chosen at the end and exposed one at a time.

Alone Player
A cheater working alone, without any outside help.
AMC
Abbreviation of exlamation "All My Chips!" An announcement, usually in a no-limit game, on a player's turn that he is betting or raising all of his chips.
All-In Over the Top
Raising with all of your chips after an opponent's bet.
All the Way in One Play
Betting all one's chips, extended version of "All the Way", same as All-in
All Red
Having a heart or diamond flush.
All the Way
Betting all one's chips, same as All-in.
All Purple
Having a spade or club flush.
All Pink
Having a heart or diamond flush.
All Blue
Having a spade or club flush.
All Green
Having a flush. "Green" usually refers to black suits and "pink" to red ones.

Having a spade or club flush.

Three kings, K-K-K.
Alcohol
Same as "I'll call".
Alexander
The king of clubs. Probably comes from Alexander the Great.
Air
a) In a lowball game, letting another player know whether you are going to draw cards or not, or the number of cards. b) Inadvertently exposing cards.
Ainsworth
In Texas Hold'em, 6-2 as one's first two cards. With regard to Ainsworth, a successful player who had won a number of games with 6-2.
Age
Player on the left of the dealer in games that use an automatic betting scheme.
Ahead
a) Winning. b) With regard to a reference position at the table, acting before the subject
After-Hours Game
Private game, played after a card room closes for the night.
Advertise
A situation when a player reveals his hand to show that he is losing the game. Usually, used for bluffing reasons later in a game.
Add-on
A purchase of more chips at the end of the re-buy period in a tournament.
Advantage Player
Synonym to a cheating player.
Advantage Tool
A cheating device, as a marked card, a mechanical device (or software, in online poker) for hiding one or more cards.
Acey-Uppy
A pair of Aces in a two-pair hand. Usually, the second pair is high
ABC Player
A person who plays a predictabe game with a lightly distinguishable style.

A game, which is played at highest stakes possible.
Able
A player to the dealer's left, in games that use forced bets or blinds.
According to Hoyle
Used to emphasise the proper rules of a game. Hoyle was considered to be an authority on the game of whist and his name is used in many rulebooks for cards games
Ace
The highest or lowest card in the deck depending on the rules of the poker game being played.
Ace in the Hole
Indicates an Ace after the cards are dealt face down and the Ace has not yet been seen
Ace to Five
A term applied to a low hand game where the lowest hand is 5-4-3-2-A, and where flushes and straights do not have any value. The best possible hand in in this type of game is A-2-3-4-5.
Ace Out
To win with a hand where Ace is the highest card.
Ace to Five Lowball
In a game played for low, ace to five means, that straights and flushes don't count and the ace can be used as a low card.
Ace Up the Sleeve
Ace card that is withdrawn from the deck by a cheat using sleight of hand to be re-introduced later at a favourable moment for the cheater.
Ace Working
An Ace card in a hand.
Acepots
A form of high draw poker, where player cannot open the pot if he is not holding at least two aces as openers.
Aces and Spaces
A five-card hand, which includes two aces and three other cards.
Aces Over
a) a pair of Aces in a two-pair hand. Usually, the second pair is low b) A full house with a pair full of Aces
Acey-Deucey
1) Two pairs, aces and deuces. 2) In Texas hold 'em, A-2 as a player's hand.
