Since the Borgata Winter Poker Open left the World Poker Tour circuit, the Main Event continued to bring in strong numbers, and with the ability to lower the Main Event buy-in to $3,500, more players found the bankroll ability to play the tournament. It was a risky move on the part of the Borgata to take the event off the WPT roster, and while less recognizable faces now participate, the overall results are positive.And with Jeff Madsen winning the 2010 Main Event, the tournament is back on the poker tournament circuit map.

When Douglas Rennick and his Canadian company, Account Services, were targeted by the U.S. Department of Justice in August of 2009 and charged with several felonies pertaining to processing funds for online poker sites, the case seemed to stall. No information was released pertaining to the indictment or the potential extradition of Rennick to the United States to face charges. But information finally came to light that Rennick refused to comply with the subpoenas and is not in contempt of court.

The place to be for online poker action in February is Full Tilt Poker. Sure, there are always amazing tournaments and cash games running on the site, but the recent introduction of Rush Poker has taken the online community by storm, and the 15th installment of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS XV) is just around the corner. The action is definitely focused on Full Tilt this month!Rush Poker was introduced to players in January, and by all accounts of poker players on social networking sites, they were intrigued and excited by it.

Where are They Now is a series of an in depth look at all poker players - not just the pros - as they travel through one long game. Some of the players profiled are deceased but not forgotten.From time to time during our “Where Are They Now” series, it’s surprising at how far along we’ve gotten when a name comes up that hasn’t been written about yet. Some are just honest mistakes. After all, when close to 150 biographies have been written, some names are bound to get through the cracks.

The vast majority of poker books that focus on Texas Hold’em have been written about the no-limit variant of the game, from Doyle Brunson’s seminal chapters in Super System to Dan Harrington’s three-volume tournament series and two-title cash game books. There are few books written by players of that magnitude on limit hold’em, a game that doesn’t have the reputation of its no-limit cousin, but is played even more frequently in cash games, both live and online.

A blog of sorts, a story to be told, the true depth of poker is about to unfold:The month of December started off pretty horrendous for me on the online felt. To make matters worse, no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to win a package into the PCA tournament being held in January. I was beginning to think that there was no way I was going to end up going, despite the fact that it’s the tournament that all the online players show up at and people were telling me that I was crazy even considering not going.

If you enjoyed the All In water and energy drinks aplenty at the 2008 World Series of Poker , it will come as good news that All In has signed a multi-year deal with the World Series of Poker to be the official energy drink and bottled water supplier.The news won’t come as much of a surprise if you read about the 2008 WSOP final table, because the official announcement was made by Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan just before the dinner break on Day 1 of the tournament. But released in writing on December 2, more details came with the new statement.

The $1,000 (+70) buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament attracted a strong field of 124 entries. This was the tenth event of 15 on this year’s Bayou Poker Challenge schedule. The two-day tournament generated a prize pool totaling $120,280 – the biggest payout so far of this year’s winter Bayou series.

ESPN kicked off coverage of last year’s World Series of Poker Europe, hosted by Lon McEachern, Norman Chad, and, as a sideline reporter, Kara Scott, with a telecast of a brand-new event, the Caesar’s Cup. Just as golf and tennis, which are largely individual sports, have the Ryder and Davis Cups, respectively, as team competitions where players represent their countries or continents, the Caesar’s Cup brought together two teams of poker stars playing for either Europe or the Americas, and promised to bring some fascinating action to the felt.
