David "The Devilfish" Ulliott is one of poker's leading personalities. He was born and lives in Hull, North Humberside, UK and worked as a jeweler and pawnbroker in England prior to his impressive career in poker. It is thought, that rings he is always wearing are made by his own. He is also known for sitting at the poker table behind a pair of shades. David Ulliott started playing poker at sixteen. The Devilfish focused on local cash games until 1996 when he began to have trouble finding a good game. “If you win all the time, people don't want to play with you!” he explained . His first tournament was in January 1997 where he impressively crushed another well known pro player, Men "The Master" Nguyen. After being surprisingly beat by Ulliott, Nguyen compared him with a devilfish, a very poisonous fish that can kill if not prepared correctly. The next day newspapers headlines were "Devilfish devours The Master”.

Winners of The World Poker Tour becomes celebrities. David was not an exception. People that are new to poker probably only know that David won the World Poker Tour at Tunica. However, he has many impressive final table appearances and first place finishes, including the first season of the Late Night Poker television show in the UK. He amazingly won the 1997 Pot Limit Holdem at the World Series of Poker and also won Pot Limit Omaha High at the 2002 World Poker Open. What is more, he placed second in Pot Limit Holdem at the Bellagio's Five-Star World Poker Classic, Limit Holdem at the 2000 World Series of Poker, and Pot Limit Holdem at the 2001 World Series of Poker. All in all, Dave’s list of major poker accomplishments is much longer:
