Gustav Hansen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was already a successful backgammon player when he first started to play poker in Santa Cruz, California. Hansen's first public appearance was in the World Poker Tour, where he snatched a victory in Five Diamonds at 2005, and WPT has brought him fame and recognition worldwide since then.
Hansen is also famous for his participation in online poker with his PokerChamps.com online poker room. The project has been very successful thus far - it has superior software and interface compared to other top online poker rooms. Gus is, of course, very proud of his creation: "During the last year I have dedicated much of my time to the creation of the best poker software on the net - which I truly believe PokerChamps.com is turning out to be. During my years of playing poker I have always been focused on the actual game and not the surroundings." The team at PokerChamps has thus made a great effort in redefining on-line poker to reflect the essentials of what Poker is all about.
With his aggressive style of play, when he's playing out low starting hands like 2-5 off suit and wins large sums of money against other professional players, he has inspired a lot of people to try this wild style of poker.
