2006 Festa al Lago, End of Day 2 Results

The Bellagio's annual fall tournament, the Festa al Lago World Poker Tour Championship Event, is in full swing. Going into Day 3, sixty-four contenders remained, from a field of 433 entrants, with a mix of professionals and lesser-known players in the lead. The top ten chip leaders were as follows:

  • Brandi Hawbaker, 541,000
  • Brandon Cantu, 396,400
  • James Van Alstyne, 350,500
  • Annand Ramdin, 258,000
  • Alex Jacob, 251,000
  • Steve Wong, 250,000
  • Can Hua, 248,400
  • Stan Wasserkrug, 241,000
  • Sven Vestland, 216,200
  • Nick Schulman, 216,100

Also near the lead were Tim Phan, 213,000, Jennifer Harman, 213,000, Fred Goldberg, 206,000, Mimi Tran, 185,200, Andreas Walnum, 182,200 and Steve Zotolow, 180,300.

Other pros still in contention included Erik Seidel, Chip Jett, John Esposito, Layne Flack, and Carlos Mortensen. Most notably, Alex Jacob, winner of the just-wrapped United States Poker Championship at the Taj Mahal, was among those gunning for the lead.

Players eliminated on the first two days included Jordan Morgan, runner up at the USPC, Jean-Robert Bellande, Daniel Negreanu, Evelyn Ng, Fabrice Soulier, Joe Bartholdi, Huck Seed, Phil Ivey and Hassan Habib.

The tournament pays 100 spots. The following players finished in the money on Day 2, each earning $12,500:
