First Pamela, now Doyle?

In an unfortunate reversal of position, the Tribeca network announced, November 10, that it will no longer accept wagers from customers in the US, Israel or Hong Kong. Tribeca hosts several notable sites, including Paddy Power and Victor Chandler, but the bulk of US players know the network through Doyle's Room and Golden Palace.com.

Doyle's Room is the home site of 10-time WSOP champion Doyle Brunson, the legendary creator of Super System 1 & 2. Golden Palace is famous for their marketing, including branding streakers and pregnant tummies. Recently defunct PamelaPoker, the site sponsored by actress and model Pamela Anderson, was also a part of the Tribeca network.

Erik Ahlberg, new President of Tribeca Tables said, "We are now initiating this policy and will work closely with our customers to ensure as little harm as possible to their overall business."

Steve Cook, European managing director added, "The board have taken a considerable amount of time to weigh up all of the options and sought a great deal of legal and market advice. We had agonized over the decision for several weeks, but sadly we have no alternative. We have concluded that it is the best way forward for the company."

The rumored timetable for the pullout at Doyle's Room is six months, which would give the poker legend time to associate himself with another site, creating a "skin" there, if possible. The difficulty would lie in the fact that most "skin" over-sites have withdrawn from the US market, notable Cryptologic and the OnGame Network (home to fellow poker champ Daniel Negreanu's Full Contact Poker). This would make it difficult for Doyle's Room to find another software provider to utilize.

So what are US internet players to do if they can't check-raise Crazy Mike Caro or call down Kid Poker's river bluff? They can still play with the pros on Full Tilt Poker or try for a piece of the internet's largest weekly poker tournament on Pokerstars , or join their favorite Pokerworks writers on Tony G poker!
