PokerStars Goes Hollywood to Help End Suffering in Darfur

In addition to his work getting a Darfur charity tournament on the schedule at the World Series of Poker, Don Cheadle has teamed with PokerStars to offer a series of charity tournaments to support Not On Our Watch, the charity launched by Cheadle and costars Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and producer Jerry Weintraub.

The four winners of the second "Oceans' Thirteen" Charity Tournament will receive a pair of tickets to the movie's American premiere in Los Angeles June 5th, plus two night's hotel accommodation and $2,000 for travel/expenses. The top 18 players will also receive a copy of the "Ocean's Thirteen" DVD (available after its general release) signed by the stars.

In addition to providing players with opportunities to help, PokerStars is donating $1 MILLION to the charity Not On Our Watch. This follows a long series of charitable giving by PokerStars, ranging from tsunami relief efforts to donations to benefit those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. PokerStars is allowing players to make player transfers to a special account set up for the charity (player NOOW) and is matching anything donated by players in this fashion.

Darfur - the western region of the Sudan, Africa - has been embroiled in a deadly conflict for over three years. At least 400,000 people have been killed and more than 3.5 million men, women, and children are completely reliant on international aid for survival.

Sunday, May 27th marks the second in a series of three special re-buy tournaments on Stars to raise money for NOOW. The entire prize pool in these $10 re-buy tourneys will be matched by PokerStars and donated to Not On Our Watch. Top finishers in the tournaments will receive special movie memorabilia, and the top four finishers win trips to June 5th premiere in Los Angeles!
