Nancy Cartwright is known for her Emmy award-winning performances in animated programs as the voice of Bart Simpson on the hit show and movie "The Simpsons," and she is also the Honorary Mayor of the North San Fernando Valley in the greater Los Angeles area. She has generously offered up her home to host the 2nd Annual Monte Carlo Night to benefit PALS, the Police Activities League Supporters. The organization is run out of the Devonshire division of the L.A. Police Department and provides after-school and weekend enrichment programs for at-risk youth that builds a positive relationship between them and the LAPD.
The Monte Carlo Night will feature a Texas hold'em tournament with prizes such as five seats in a 2008 World Series of Poker satellite, a race ticket package to the 2008 NASCAR Infineon Raceway, tickets to the 2008 American Idol finale, a day on the set of the TV show "24," and various Simpsons' prizes. There will be other activities - pool, pinball, Wii challenge - as well as a live auction. For a $250 donation, access is granted to the festivities that also include a gourmet dinner, Aha Toro tequila Bar, martini bar, "Zino Platinum" smoking lounge, comedy, music, and dancing. However, a $500 donation also gains entry into the poker tournament and $200 rebuys will be allowed during the first three levels with a one-time $200 add-on.
Professional poker players scheduled to attend include Johnny Chan, Todd Brunson, T.J. Cloutier, Steve Dannenmann, Jamie Gold, Jennifer Harman, Susie Isaacs, Kenna James, Mary Jones, Mel Judah, Liz Lieu, Daniel Negreanu, and Marco Traniello. Among the celebrities on the guest list are Brad Garrett, Chris and Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon, Marisol Nichols, Chris Slade, Patrick Cassidy, and Bruce Davidson. Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, will be the emcee for the evening. Honorary supporters of the event include Camryn Manheim, Sinbad, Isaac Hayes, Julie Kavner, Bryan Cranston, Catherine Bell, and Anne Archer.
