The Aussie Millions, formerly known as "The Crown Australian Poker Championship" began in July of 1998 with only 74 players. Last year, the Crown Casino drew a record 747 entrants, making it the biggest and most action packed year on record. The estimated guess for this year is that we'll see over 1000 players and they've added even more games to please the action junky in all of us.
The Main No Limit Holdem Event will start on Monday, January 14, 2008 with the bargain basement buy-in of $10,500 AUD. The winner can expect to score a first place cash prize of more than one million dollars. Other cash tournaments you can sign up for include a No Limit Holdem event with a Bounty player on each table, a Heads Up poker challenge, a Pot-limit Crazy Pineapple Tournament, and the Australian 2-card Manila Championship.
Full Tilt is offering players 5 ways to win a full package to the event and they are running satellites around the clock. Choose from Bi-Monthly Freerolls, $500 Sunday tourneys, $300 Tuesday games, $1,000 Thursday satellites, and a 25 seat guarantee on December 9th. What's included in the 18K Aussie Millions packages that Full Tilt is giving away? I'm glad you asked. Players will receive an entry worth $10,500 AUD to the main event, 10 nights stay at the luxurious Crown Casino Resort, Round-trip airfare for the winner and a guest to Melbourne, Australia, $3,000 in spending money, and for recreation, FTP is providing its winners with winery tours, golf outings, seminars and a bounty tournament.
The Main Event will be filmed by Fox Sports Net and broadcast later in the year and the final table will play on Sunday, January 20, 2008. Will Gus Hansen be able to pull off a win two years in a row?
I will be playing on Full Tilt faithfully in the upcoming weeks, hoping to score an Aussie Millions package so that I can watch Gus defend his title in person. For more information, head over to aussiemillions.com.
