WCOOP Event #15

In one of the shortest events of the 2007 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, 696 players took to the virtual felt, putting up the $320 entry fee for Event #15, Seven Card Stud. The final table featured eight top Stud players, including one player, spielraum, who had already laid claim to a 2007 WCOOP bracelet. Spielraum took down the bracelet in 5-Card Draw a little more than a week before, and was in good position to make a run at his second. Here's how the chip stacks looked as the final table began -

Seat 1: Ubsolute (518432 in chips)
Seat 2: Lystig (293671 in chips)
Seat 3: scrubbyz (95970 in chips)
Seat 4: sascos (146888 in chips)
Seat 5: spielraum.at (379752 in chips)
Seat 6: Grape (64248 in chips)
Seat 7: Dersu Uzala (400790 in chips)
Seat 8: bull_99 (188249 in chips)

Scrubbyz started off final table play relatively short, and when he started off with (3-3)-10, he came in for a raise. Grape called with a 2 in the door, and called again on fourth street when Scrubbyz bet out again. Grape called one more bet on fifth street, then led out on sixth when his board read 2-10-6-6, with his pair of sixes looking good for the lead. Scrubbyz raised all-in, Grape called, and his pair of sixes held up to bounce Scrubbyz in 8th place ($3,967.20).

Ubsolute started off the final table with a terrible run of cards, but halted his skid when his rolled up sixes crippled bull_99. Bull_99 doubled up once, but went to the rail three hands later in seventh place for $6,096.96. Once Bull_99 was eliminated, the remaining six players worked out a deal, as their stacks were very close to even. After leaving $6,000 on the table for the winner, the payout guarantees looked like this -

Ubsolute:$19,000
Lystig: $18,828
sascos: $19,902
spielraum.at: $19,805
Grape: $21,011
Dersu: $22,360

Lystig was the next to fall, heading to the rail shortly after the 30-minute "dinner" break when Dersu Uzala's Aces up sent him home in 6th place. Grape went out next when he started off with a pair of sevens to Ubsolute's pair of eights. No help came for Grape and he was done in fifth.

Spielraum's chase for a second bracelet ended in fourth; when Ubsolute picked up two pair on fourth street and held on to send spielraum to the rail in fourth place. After a fierce period of three-handed play, Dersu Uzala found himself on the short stack, and re-raised sascos with an Ace in the hole. Sasco was ahead all the way with split 10s to start, and made two pair on sixth street. Dersu Uzala made a pair of Aces on seventh, but it wasn't good enough to stick around, and Dersu Uzala went out in third place.

Ubsolute and sasco passed the lead back and forth during the heads up battle, until finally Ubsolute pulled out a big hand with a pair of fives to top sasco's pair of fours and claim his first WCOOP bracelet.
