Over 600 players laid $1,050 on the line for their chance at a big prize pool and the WCOOP bracelet in Event #22 of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker - Limit Hold ‘Em. When the final table finally arrived, the chip stacks looked like this -

Seat 1: drbk2 (619733 in chips)
Seat 2: DEVIRUS (1129819 in chips)
Seat 3: emptyseat88 (441326 in chips)
Seat 4: plattsburgh (936478 in chips)
Seat 5: Hansa.no (224548 in chips)
Seat 6: jumper17 (684116 in chips)
Seat 7: BUTCH ACIDY (366173 in chips)
Seat 8: Sowerss (1525467 in chips)
Seat 9: der Falk (232340 in chips)

Der Falk was the first to bust, getting all his chips in the middle with A-K against BUTCH ACIDY's pocket Kings. No Ace on the board for Der Falk, and he was done in 9th place for $8,008. He was followed to the rail soon after by Hanso.no, who went to war with A-7 against emptyseat88's K-Q. A Queen on the turn sent Hansa.no to the rail in 8th place ($13,552).

After a few rough hands, BUTCH ACIDY found himself very short stacked and all in with Q-10 against emptyseat88. Emptyseat88 showed K-6, and the board missed BUTCH ACIDY, sending him home in 7th place for $20,328.

The final six chip stacks measured up this way after BUTCH ACIDY's elimination -

Seat 1: drbk2 (424733 in chips)
Seat 2: DEVIRUS (1234819 in chips)
Seat 3: emptyseat88 (691887 in chips)
Seat 4: plattsburgh (868978 in chips)
Seat 6: jumper17 (1141616 in chips)
Seat 8: Sowerss (1797967 in chips)

DEVIRUS flopped a set of deuces on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, and he got it all in against plattsburgh. Plattsburgh's pocket sixes were far behind until the river brought a six, giving Plattsburgh a higher set and sending DEVIRUS home in 6th place ($27,720).

Emptyseat88 was the next to go, getting all in holding {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} on the flop of {9-Spades}{K-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Sowerss called with A-7 and hit an Ace on the turn to bust emptyseat88 in 5th place for $35,112.

A long session of 4-handed play ended when drbk2 finally got his last few chips in the pot with J-10 on a flop of {3-Spades}{Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Sowerss called with 8-7 and picked up a seven on the river to bust drbk2 in 4th ($43,120). Plattsburgh was next to bust, losing big hands back-to-back against jumper17. In the first, plattsurgh lost most of his stack to Jumper17's flopped set, and in the last, he shoved preflop with {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}. No help for him on the board, and jumper17's pocket sevens held up to send plattsburgh home in 3rd place with $56,056.

Jumper17 took a slight chip lead into heads-up play, as the stacks looked like this -

Seat 6: jumper17 (3334103 in chips)
Seat 8: Sowerss (2825897 in chips)

The players decided to cut a deal, leaving $18,000 on the table for the eventual winner and locking up the following payouts -

$108,967.05 - jumper17
$102,184.95 - Sowerss

The final two players stopped hiding behind their online monikers, as jumper17 revealed that he is Australian pro Markus Golser, and Sowerss was already known to most railbirds as Mike Sowers, a ranked online pro from Charlotte, NC that has been on an amazing run through the spring and summer of 2007. Sowers banked nearly $200K in online tournament wins this year so far, with another $100K+ cash guaranteed for this event. With the deal in place, these two were after one thing - the bracelet.

The back and forth heads-up battle lasted for an hour and forty minutes, but finally Sowers moved ahead slightly. After a hard-fought final table, all the chips went in for the last time when Sowers turned a straight to Golser's flopped middle pair, and took down the win and the bracelet.

Here are the final table finishes and payouts from event #22.
