This week, Players Network announced that it has launched two Video On Demand (VOD) television channels on TiVo. The shows, "Gaming Lifestyle" and "Vegas on Demand" are available to digital subscribers for easy download to the TiVo box but will not be available on traditional channels.
Michael Berk, President of Programming for Players Network, stated, "We are thrilled to have been chosen by TiVo to be one of its first original programming providers on their new TiVocast platform. TiVocast is a significant part of the future of VOD television as more and more consumers change the way they watch TV by using DVR's to view their favorite television shows whenever they want to watch them. With adding TiVo's distribution, Player's Network is now carried in over fifteen million households."
Within the last several months, some of the shows available from the Players Network included a poker strategy show featuring Mike "The Mouth" Matusow and an advanced Texas hold'em strategy series with David Sklansky, Todd Brunson, and Matusow. Being a complete gaming network, there are also instructional programs about craps, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and various other casino games and gaming hobbies like sports betting.
In addition to its TiVo distribution, Players Network is in its second year of broadcasting as a 24-hour VOD channel with Comcast Communications, which is available in over 13 million homes. The Comcast channel is listed as "Vegas on Demand" and has been viewed by over 2 million customers. Players Network also has a dedicated broadband video channel on You Tube. And videos can also be downloaded on the company's website, www.PlayersNetwork.com.
Players Network (OTC: PNTV) has been providing content from the gaming industry for ten years and is currently expanding from its Internet platform to mobile and television distribution. This initial TiVo launch will include four shows per week, though the network has a library of nearly 1,000 programs produced thus far and ready for air. Production continues on numerous additional shows for the lineup and future extended TiVo programming.
