The 2007 World Poker Congress met in fabulous St. Julian’s, Malta on November 29 and November 30th for the second annual gathering. The Westin Dragonara Resort played host to the WPC and a great time was had by all.

This year, attendees learned from the experts in the areas of online and land-based poker. They discussed critical issues and networked with high-level executives from prominent companies in the poker industry. Sue Schneider of Clarion Gaming opened the seminar by commending Malta with fitting the needs of the poker industry and for being such a hospitable venue! She mentioned that one of the biggest challenges in putting on poker conferences is coming up with the perfect venue, but Malta fit the bill.

The keynote address was given by Steve Lipscomb of WPT Enterprises and Jeffrey Pollack of Harrah’s Entertainment (home of the WSOP). These are two of the most influential people in poker today and attendees were very fortunate to be given the opportunity to meet these gentlemen.

The weekend was filled with informative and exciting seminars given by some of the top names in the industry such as Paul Barnes, a Management Consultant in Ireland, Vahe Baloulian of Red Planet Gaming in Austria, Mario Galea, Chief Executive, Lotteries and Gaming Authority in Malta, and Ron Evans of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Topics ranged from “Motivating Poker Affiliates” to “Tools of the Game: New Technology in Cards, Chairs, Tables, Recognition” and over to “Online Poker – The Leading Edge”.

"The World Poker Congress is truly a one-of-a-kind event," says Sue Schneider, president of the River City Group which, along with Global Gaming Business and PokerBIZ magazines, is producing the conference.

Where else can you go to meet the biggest names in the industry, canoodle with them, make lifelong connections and learn about the latest and greatest innovations in the poker industry?

This year’s conference was a major success, and next year promises to be even better. Make sure you sign up early to reserve a seat.
